Chester County Engagement Photographer | Longwood Gardens | Sandy + Yohanes

Engagement

I am always inspired by couples who have been together for years and years. They must know each other so well, every idiosyncrasy and every eyelash. Sandy and Yohanes have been together for 7 years. They met at church when she arrived as a new member. He asked for her phone number a few weeks later.

For the longest time I felt like this engagement session was a fantasy. We were supposed to do it last October at the Jersey shore. If you remember, there was a bit of bad weather that completely halted our plans. And then Yohanes had a bug bite on his chin that lasted two months. I was wondering if I would ever actually meet these mysterious two.

On a very windy day in April it finally came together at Longwood Gardens.

I love Sandy’s split-second faces!

He popped the question last year when he picked her up from work one day. She notes that he didn’t get down on one knee (a little hard in a car). The official proposal came this January when his family was invited to her family’s house.

Yohanes is a sushi chef. They love cooking together and get quite outdoorsy going camping and fishing. She is a biologist studying RNA.

Sandy and Yohanes wanted to try this shot and you have no idea how long it took the three of us to figure out how to make it work.

After her sister’s wedding this year, Sandy and Yohanes will be married in 2014 in Indonesia, where their families are from. Congratulations, you two!  Happy wishes for the next seven years and many, many more after that!

Julie + Chuck: Engagement session at Ocean City, MD
Chuck approached me last year with one of the best inquiries ever. He and Julie were guests at Katie & Seth’s wedding, had been engaged for longer than their parents would like, without a venue or wedding date, and just knew that they wanted awesome pictures. I kind of insisted they get a wedding venue and a date so I could be a part of it.We planned their engagement session at the beach. Though Chuck’s not such a fan of sand, this was something that was particularly important to them since Chuck proposed to Julie on the beach about two years ago. I’m amazed that she was able to take off the ring and keep the proposal a secret for a fe ...

Wilmington Engagement Photographer | Brandywine Creek State Park | Michelle + Chris
This Delaware engagement session at Brandywine Creek State Park couldn’t have been any better.  The fall day was incredible- there wasn’t a single cloud in the sky and the temperature was unusually warm and pleasant for fall.  It was my first meeting with Michelle and Chris.  I hate to use “cute” when not speaking of puppies and babies but, man, these two topped the adorable charts. They met while attending the University of Delaware.  Interestingly, they had both attended the same high school (and were both on the track and field team) but never ran into one another.  Chris heard that there were other people from his alma mater at UD ...

Engagement Session at Baker Beach
I spent Thursday evening with a really fabulous couple: Gillian & Blake. I've known Gillian for a little while now. She's also in the wedding industry and is an incredibly talented florist. She serves the entire bay area so I very strongly recommend you check out her stuff at www.gillianmarieevents.com. I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it.So onto the shoot… We met at this great grove of trees in the Presidio. Traffic was particularly hairy so we got a late start but the pictures were fantastic nonetheless. I mean, can you really take a bad picture of a couple this cute? Gillian has this bright, easy smile that just lights up her ...
