Destination Wedding Photographer | Mayan Riviera, Mexico | Christine + Alex

Wedding

Do I travel for weddings?  Um, yeah!  Sign me up!

I made my way down to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico for a fabulously intimate few days with Christine and Alex and their closest family and friends.  It was a happy, crazy experience.  Christine is hilarious in a no-holds-barred kind of way and Alex is quieter but absolutely Christine’s partner in crime.

Their wedding day at the El Dorado Royale resort was breathtaking.  It was hot.  Really, really hot but the skies were beautiful and Christine looked like a dream.  Alex and Christine live in England and wanted somewhere tropical for their vows.

She wore a beaded, strapless gown that gently sparkled up and down as the light hit it.  The crystal-adorned cathedral length veil and beautiful Swarovski crystal and freshwater pearl tiara perfected her look.

Alex’s jaw dropped when he saw her for the first time in that gown and we were off to take advantage of the sand, sun, and palm trees.  This was no Philadelphia wedding.

It was quiet at the resort but we weren’t totally alone.

The ceremony was held oceanside on the smooth white sand with only the waves and a harpist as musical accompaniment.

They were married in English and Spanish and sealed their vows according to Mexican laws, with thumbprints.

The cocktail hour brought together the 16 attendees in drinking, dancing, and a ton of laughter.  Everyone had gotten close in the days leading up the wedding, taking in the rays and visiting some sites (Chichen Itza and scuba diving).

The reception was held a short walk away under rafters with the warm air blowing through.

The couple danced their first dance to “You’re Still the One” by Shania Twain.

After a quick change (I’m impressed they lasted so long in so many layers!), Christine and Alex came back for toasts, a grand dinner that included every kind of meat imaginable, a piñata, games, more dancing, and a dip in the pool.  We all saw that coming.

What a fabulous day!  Here’s to hoping every day you two spend together is just as crazy and fun!

Based on my extensive experience with Colameco weddings, I can give you this advice: bring your dancing shoes and tissues.  Lots and lots of tissues.  In fact, go to Costco and buy them in bulk because you and everyone else will be leaking everywhere.  You’re welcome. I had the pleasure of being the photographer for Christina and Chris’ wedding at Camp Ockanickon in Medford, NJ.  They wanted their wedding to involve BBQ and feel laid back so they found this place, traditionally a summer camp for kids, that had the perfect vibe for their affair. Of course the wedding party were staying at their respective boy’s and girl’s lodges. ...

Philadelphia Wedding Photographer | Tyler Arboretum | Jen + Jeremy
I’m almost positive that Jen can make just about anything happen through some magically fierce combination of will and sunshine (she’s a Cali girl, after all).  Jeremy keeps up and follows suit.  The end result is a radiance I haven’t seen since Rainbow Bright. Their wedding day was exactly as you’d imagine of these two: incredibly colorful and wonderfully happy.  They drew inspiration from Napa Valley and the Mediterranean and mixed in some of the most gorgeous Pennsylvania fall hues. The VIPs got ready at the Sofitel in Philadelphia.  Jen wore what I assume is the most intricate and complicated wedding dress in the history of brid ...

Philadelphia Wedding Photographer | Morris House Hotel | Elise + Eric
Elise and Eric wanted their wedding day to be super low key.  Well, Elise did.  She would have happily eloped.  Eric is more of a traditionalist.   This combination resulted in a gorgeous fall wedding day for the two at the Morris House Hotel with 49 guests. I was enamored of Elise’s cloudlike wedding gown that breezed behind her as she walked.  It had a floral embroidered top set against an illusion neckline and back.  She wore the daintiest set of pearls – a meaningful strand that has been in her family for ages. Elise bemoaned the fact that white wedding shoes were so hard to find.  I don’t understand th ...
