Family Session back in Raliegh, NC

Family

Have I got a treat for you!

I went back to Raleigh, North Carolina for a part of the holidays and met up with some of my absolute favorite clients, Katie and Erik. This time there was one more addition to the group: Ava! Last time I saw Ava, she looked like this:

We went to Pullen Park for family portraits and it was the first time I actually got to meet her. I can’t believe she’ll be a year old in March.

We took some pictures of everyone and it became pretty clear that she loves her mommy but she’s definitely daddy’s little girl. Katie is with her all day and Ava gets so excited to see her daddy when he comes home from work. Of course she had no problem making sure Erik knew who was the boss of the household – she broke into giggles after playfully slapping Erik a few times.

They are a fabulous couple and so completely in love. This was the fourth time I photographed them and they just exude love for one another. Now that Ava is in the picture, Erik is nothing but a huge softie.

Taking my advice, Katie brought a ton of clothes for Ava who didn’t mind one bit. It was unseasonably warm but how can you not try on this cute little parka for a few minutes?

It pains me to be so far away from them. I’m sad enough that I missed so much of Ava’s first year. I got a birth announcement and Christmas card before even seeing her. I can’t wait to return to Raleigh the next time to see how much bigger she has grown.

And here’s a new offering from Lindsay Docherty Photography: Bits & Pieces collages! These beautiful images are printed on square canvas fine art prints starting at 16″x16″. They are absolutely classic and feature all of the baby bits and pieces that make this age completely adorable. (And I needed an excuse to highlight Ava’s stunning eyelashes!)

Thanks Katie, Erik, and Ava! See you next time I’m on the East Coast! Don’t let her get too big without me!

Philadelphia Newborn Photographer | Jack
It is always pretty great spending a few hours with a newborn.  The parents are seeing stars, both from the overwhelming “whoa” of now having this little creature that is all theirs and the mind-numbing lack of sleep. Jeff and Vanessa brought me little Jack.  At just 8 days old, he was completely attentive to his mommy.  He even cracked a smile or two for us. With time, we got ourselves a sweet, sleepy baby who just curled up for us. His teeny baby details were beyond adorable. Tell me this swirl of hair isn’t swoon-worthy. Vanessa and Jeff will eventually leave the Northeast for homebase back in Texas.  Until ...

Scotland Visit
I really hate leaving home base for too long. I get back and feel like the sky is falling. I think the dust is finally settling and I can get back into the groove again. I wanted to share some of my pictures from my trip to Scotland a few weeks ago. My grandmother is not doing very well so it was a last minute thing to get across the pond. If I ever see another airport again, it will be too soon. Part of my adventure was borderline comical. I flew from San Francisco to Los Angeles for a nine hour layover. The flight was at 7am and I had a shuttle pick me up at 5am. The shuttle driver wasn't having a great morning – he picked me up late ...

Philadelphia Baby Photographer | Northern Liberties | William
I am pleased to introduce you to Mr. William Ryan.  He is an adorably round little man who digs strangers and is 100% likely to steal your heart. He came into this world after a fairly “uneventful” labor and delivery.  Those are Kelly’s words.  I can’t imagine any delivery being uneventful but she’s a tough broad so it doesn’t surprise me. He’s much like his dad, Chris.  The two have a close bond and Kelly says that he lights up for him in a way he doesn’t for anyone else.  They both savor their own quiet time and William will pensively relax at a window or in his crib for a while without any qualms. William was about 3 ...
