JPG magazine voting time

Uncategorized

I have a few weddings to share but I’m in the middle or reorganizing my files so it’ll be a few days. In the meantime, I’ll share some pictures that I’ve submitted to JPG magazine for their 16th issue.

Take a look around the site for some really great images and feel free to vote for mine in the process. 😉

Here are the images that I entered this time:

Human Impact – San Francisco is the second most densely populated major city in the country. Their efforts to maintain green areas in the city are admirable and more impressive than many other urban hubs, but the expanse or building on top of building is stifling. This image feels very 70s to me – like a slide from history class that hasn’t been replaced in ages.

On the Go – This feels like a fun picture with lots of movement and color. So much movement that the pooch is half out of the frame! Not the kind of picture I’d normally submit, but it felt appropriate.

Fresh – Okay, not to pat myself on the back, but this clementine looks juicy and delicious. I mean, if this image doesn’t scream “fresh”, I don’t know what does.

So check it out and maybe even submit a picture or two yourself. You never know what could get printed.

Oh how I love these long days. It just feels right that I should wake up to sunshine early in the morning and have a full evening of light. I remember being a little kid and being put to bed at 8pm and thinking, "Seriously?! There's still plenty of play left in this day – just look outside!" So get out there and play. Use all of this light for a picnic, a bike ride, time at the dog park, wandering around Manayunk or South Street, open-air dining, or just plain old cloud watching.Every month I feature new images for download for you to use as your desktop background. Photography 101: Group Pictures
I just came across a fabulous idea for taking group pictures. I'm so stealing this for my next wedding:You want a photo of everyone together, or a photo of Grandma and Grandpa with all the grandchildren, or any other posed group–but you want everyone looking cute, not tortured. EVERYONE who’s going to be in the photo should come over and stand by the camera. Anyone not able to move comfortably can stay in the pose position, but everyone else should be at the camera. On a timer, press the button, and now EVERYONE run to get into position before the 10 seconds is up. This results in rosy-cheeked, happy-looking groups, though the group gets mo ...
