Julia and Matt are fun, hilarious, and awesome (in no particular order). Not surprisingly, their wedding exuded the exact same qualities. This group was a blast – there was nonstop laughter. If that’s not the sign of an incredible wedding, I don’t know what is. This wedding was sprinkled with a little bit of Rocky (the boxer, not the squirrel), zombies, rugby, mummers, chests & vests (don’t ask), and an all around good time.
Perhaps you remember these two crazy kids from their engagement session in Manayunk last year.
We started the day in Manayunk at Matt and Julia’s place where the girls were getting ready.
Julia was stylin’! I loved her Demitrios lace gown and the adorable blush-colored bolero. And her blusher headpiece suited her perfectly (from Etsy, I believe).
The bouquets by Fresh Designs Florist were gorgeous. Julia’s featured soft pinks , whites, and greens while the bridesmaids had more vibrant colors to match their fuchsia cocktail length dresses.
They were married at the gorgeous St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Manayunk.
After the ceremony, the bridal party and I headed over to the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum. The day was perfect – huge puffy clouds against a brilliant blue sky.
Have I mentioned yet that I love this group? Because I do. They rocked my socks. Hard.
After a pic or two with the Rocky statue, we were off to Media to catch the cocktail hour and reception at the Old Mill in Media. This is such a charming venue with stone walls and indoor and outdoor spaces.
Instead of a sign-in book or mat, they had their guests leave their fingerprints and names on a hand drawn tree. I loved it!
Some fabulous introductions included hopscotch, a piggyback ride, and Thriller.
Matt and Julia entered the room to cheers (he carried her in) and they danced their first dance together as husband and wife to Cee Lo’s “Old Fashioned”.
Toasts by Cheech and the best men gave us the low down on the couple, including the top 10 things about Matt.
The food was delicious but I’m amazed anyone ate. Guests were itching to get out on the dancefloor from the moment they walked in the room. The place was packed all night long. And you should have seen it when the Mummers song came on. Here’s some insight… (Yes, that’s one of the priests living it up with his cane!)
I loved the dance Julia shared with her grandfather.
Guests were crowded around the cake all night long. Matt and Julia, huge fans of zombie flicks, paid homage to their obsession with a fantastic cake by Liz Marden.
It was such a wonderful day. Julia and Matt, thanks so much for inviting me to be a part of it. I had a great time!
Oh, people they gather ’round
And they wonder how
How we end up right here and now
I just smile ’cause true love doesn’t go out of style
Ohhhh
(right on time)
Always
Right on time, oh timeless
I’ll be here for always
