Personal

Granted, we have had rain and thunderstorms every day for what feels like years. Everything is soggy (and frizzy!) but lush. I still find myself missing San Francisco but I remember how much I ached for a great, big thunderstorm outside my window. This area is pretty fabulous. We have seasons and just about anything you could want within a 2 hour drive – mountains, beaches, cities, countrysides.

Just the other week I went to a balloon festival. There was a band singing country covers songs, fair food (I had my first fried oreo. and then another.), a piglet adoption tent, families on grass-stained quilts, and little kids with bare feet running all over the place. It was a pretty awesome night and I felt lucky that I live in a place that has the opportunity for happy, random excursions like the Chester County Balloon Festival.

It was a nice, lazy, weightless night to sit and watch the colorful hot air balloons float up into the big country sky. First one, then about a dozen. Life is good.

VH1’s The Shot and some more underwater photography
So I don't watch tv at all; I don't even have cable. But a few of my photographer friends were talking about a new show on VH1 called The Shot, which is something akin to America's Next Top Model (so I've been told). The twist is that it's from the other side of the lens and the photographers are all pitted against each other for a chance at a Victoria's Secret campaign and a spread in Marie Claire. I've actually started watching it on my computer – which is great because there are no commercials.Anyway, the last show featured the budding photographers taking pictures of a model underwater in beautiful dresses. It is something I would lov ...

I Ran to Stop MS
Yesterday I ran the first race of my life – Philadelphia's half marathon. It was completely exhilarating. The crowds were awesome and my mix totally kept me going. I was singing (or at least mouthing the words) through most of the run. The end result is one small blister and a whole lotta pride. I can't wait to do it again. Maybe a marathon; who knows? My time was 1:51:53! I ran it in under 2 hours (a secret goal).I want to thank the following people for donating to stop MS, a cause that is very close to my heart.Julie & Coye CheshireTim MahoneyKaren & Paul HarrisRich WhiteLauren HancockLiz BrennanLinda DemmlerEllie & Ali Ja ...

Big News for LDP
I've been blogging my photo adventures for over a year now and I've reached my 100th post! I'm taking this special occasion to share some very exciting news for Lindsay Docherty Photography… I'm moving to Pennsylvania! That's right, my west coast days are coming to an end and I'll be making the move in December and going back to where I grew up on the "Main Line" right outside of Philadelphia. There are obviously a few cons to this decision. I hate, hate, HATE cold weather and I'll be showing up just in time for blizzard season. Bleh! The hardest part will be saying goodbye to all the good friends I've made during my stay here and al ...
