Little baby Nora made her parents work for her arrival. There is something called a Nurse’s Curse and Deirdre got it.
I’m not going to get graphic but Nora was late and then caused one hell of a ruckus to get out. This included running late, water breaking to start the stopwatch, vacuum, forceps, retained placenta, and a couple units of blood for Deirdre. 9+ pound Nora was larger than expected.
Have I mentioned that Deirdre is a labor and delivery nurse? That just seems unfair. But then there’s this face!
But here she is with soft, fuzzy hair that, from the back, makes her look a bit like Sonic the Hedgehog.
Nora has no problem staying wide awake and only shut her eyes momentarily while we were together.
Pete is such a good guy. They were not finding out the sex of the baby before the birth. Pete ordered necklaces with each initial to be able to give Deirdre the N when the baby was born.
They are adjusting well to the Lug Nut (one of their nicknames for her) and, as expected, keeping things lighthearted in the process.
I love being with them for all of their goofiness and apparent love. It was great to bring my camera to them again at their home in the halls of Baldwin School where we also did their engagement session.
Nora is one lucky lady and will no doubt grow up in a home with oodles of love and laughter.
Life doesn’t get more real than having a newborn at home. ~ Eric Church
