Little Miss Harper Laine stayed wide awake for practically our entire session at her home in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey last week. I get it; when literally everything is new and you’re the star of a photoshoot, you want to hang out and see all that there is to see (within 6 inches of your face).
This isn’t to say that she was upset. Not in the least. Harper was pleasant while I was there, showing off her gorgeous Pinterest-worthy nursery (teepee, DIY flower mobile, the softest color palette) and a few questionable/fashionable headpieces.
New mom, Jeanette, looks fabulous whenever I see her. She’s a total workaholic and this was the first time I’ve ever seen her in one place for more than a few minutes. That being said, she’s eager to get back to work and is still coordinating umpteen projects from her nursing chair.
Dad, Dustin, is a proud poppa. Despite all Jeanette’s pink influence, he has visions of his little girl being an NFL kicker.
Luca, their cat, finds this whole thing questionable.
Harper was 6 days late and made Jeanette work to see her little “fishface” with back labor. Overall, she said it wasn’t so bad and she would gladly do it all over again. Jeanette’s already imaging a future of pillow forts, Disney movies, soccer, and mohawks in the bathtub.
It was on a 12 hour drive to Michigan to visit Dustin’s family that they came up with Harper’s name. They found out the sex as early as possible and went through all the baby books.
I loved getting to meet 8 day old Harper. I can’t wait to find out which sports team she’s on in a few years!
“All those cliches, those things you hear about having a baby and motherhood – all of them are true. And all of them are the most beautiful things you will ever experience.”
