Kate and Dakota had the rustic wedding people dream about when they think of having it in their own backyard. Mixed with the perfect weather, it was both beautiful and comfortably familiar. Everything happened at her family’s farmhouse in Tabernacle, New Jersey.
Kate and the ladies got ready upstairs. They wore matching robes as they primped.
The wedding day garb was almost as comfortable – the bride and every bridesmaid wore cowboy boots.
The groom and groomsmen weren’t quite as lucky though they did get to hang out longer and spent some time admiring Dakota’s Triumph motorcycle that he customized himself.
Their dog, Chevy, looked marvelous in his own groomsman suit. Kate says that he’s completely happy to be dressed up. On this day he wore a child’s size suit, shirt, and tie. Yeah, he pretty much stole the show.
Can we talk about how laid back this bride is? Please see Article 1, below, in which she is literally climbing into a pig sty in her wedding dress before her wedding ceremony. She happily hopped in to give Pork Chop a quick pat and an apple before roaming the grounds and checking in on some chickens too.
Kate wasn’t interested in big, fancy bouquets. She wanted flowers that looked like they were just picked that morning from wildflowers.
Kate honored her mother with the role of matron of honor.
When it came time for the ceremony, Kate’s father walked her through the outdoor doorway he created and down past their guests to a waiting Dakota in front of massive trees. They had cleared this space for the event and it looked lovely.
After the ceremony, Kate and Dakota walked back through their doors to curtains of bubbles from their guests before heading out with me for some pictures.
Of course we had to make use of Chevy and the motorcycle!
The reception was held under a big sailcloth tent and they entered after their wedding party to dance to Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat singing “Lucky.”
As expected, the dance floor was jam packed all night long.
Dakota had a groom’s cake with his racing number.
The bouquet and garter toss were quite eventful too!
It was such a special day. It was all laughter, friends, and family in total celebration mode.
You make it easier when life gets hard
I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
