To me, November means cold and crisp. In San Francisco it can mean cold and foggy. Very cold and very foggy. These pictures were taken on the Marin side of the Golden Gate Bridge on a frigid day when the fog was so thick, you could hardly see five feet in front of you. Serious fog.

Enjoy!

I have loved living in the San Francisco Bay Area. It’s not all peaches and plentiful parking but it has been a fabulous place to live and, if the conditions were right, I would stay here forever.

I look forward to moving to Pennsylvania for the new year, but there will always be a soft spot in my heart for this area and all of the wonderful people I’ve met during my stay here.

“There are so many beautiful parts of the world . . . Thailand, Italy, the south of France. There are places in Spain that are astonishing. But here . . . 25 miles and you go up on Mount Tam to see the fog come in; 25 miles the other direction and you’re somewhere else that takes your breath away. There’s no question this is where I want to live. Never has been.”

Sorry I won't be around for the next two weeks. I am going to Scotland on October 20th, returning to San Francisco on October 29th and flying out to Connecticut a few hours later to shoot a wedding on Halloween.Unfortunately, my trip to Scotland is not one for fun or weddings, but to see my grandmother who has been struggling with dementia for the past few years and now looks to have lung cancer. She is actually my namesake as her maiden name is Lindsay. I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of my family since my grandmother had 12 children and I have lost count of the cousins I have all over the world.Hopefully I'll be back with a few pictu ...

The summer? Bah! That was nothing compared to what’s coming this fall. Hold on to your hats because there is a world of Lindsay Docherty Photography coming at you over the next few months. My mind is spinning and it’s hardly begun yet. This is my last totally wedding/engagement session - free weekend til December (yes, December!) so I’m taking a wee trip. I’ll be incommunicado til Wednesday because I’ll be paddling down the Delaware River for the next few days. “My, Lindsay, I had no idea you kayaked,” you say. Well, that’s because I haven’t. It will certainly be an adventure and will likely hurt. But I’m one tough cookie. I am und ...

I’ve got a date tonight!
I am a huge proponent of online dating. When you’ve seen as many weddings and heard as many love stories as I have, you find out really fast that online dating is awesome and effective.Last January I found a particular specimen online and thought to myself, “Hmmm… he looks interesting.”  I clicked on him as a ‘favorite’ and accidentally alerted him to the fact that I had been window shopping and found something I liked. “It doesn’t matter,” I thought, “I don’t have any pictures up and my profile is pretty sparse and snarky so he won’t think twice about it.”  Turns out he did. We chatted and agreed to meet at Tinto one year ago to ...
