Personal

Alas, the last few days of color are upon us. Too soon my gorgeous fiery leaves will be crunchy brown heaps along the sidewalk. The amazing textures and colors of fall are almost kaput in favor of, well… who knows because it’s too freaking cold to go outside and see!

I dread the next few months. My fingers, nose, toes, and everything in between tell me that it is time to fly south or hibernate. One or the other because leaving the confines of comfy flannel sheets is not working out.

Luckily, the end of the year holds some exciting things for me and my business. It is the first holiday season in our new house, Glen Yiddish (I’m Scottish and he’s Jewish). We’ll be hosting Thanksgivukkuh and Christmas. I absolutely love entertaining and feel best when the house is full of happy faces and delicious scents. Talk of the Thanksgiving menu has already begun and Andy is as thrilled as a toddler to have a Christmas tree and carols in the home (though I’ve told him that they must wait until after Thanksgiving).

The studio is amazing and I love hosting client consultations and baby and boudoir sessions here. Keep on the blog for some very exciting posts about new offerings soon.

Every month, I feature new images for download for you to use as your Facebook cover photo. Enjoy these textures and color because you won’t see them for very much longer. Click to download these images and see them at their full size and resolution.

Please note these images are made available for personal use only.

“Since golden October declined into sombre November
And the apples were gathered and stored, and the land became brown sharp points of death in a waste of water and mud.”

Scotland Visit
I really hate leaving home base for too long. I get back and feel like the sky is falling. I think the dust is finally settling and I can get back into the groove again. I wanted to share some of my pictures from my trip to Scotland a few weeks ago. My grandmother is not doing very well so it was a last minute thing to get across the pond. If I ever see another airport again, it will be too soon. Part of my adventure was borderline comical. I flew from San Francisco to Los Angeles for a nine hour layover. The flight was at 7am and I had a shuttle pick me up at 5am. The shuttle driver wasn't having a great morning – he picked me up late ...

I Ran to Stop MS
Yesterday I ran the first race of my life – Philadelphia's half marathon. It was completely exhilarating. The crowds were awesome and my mix totally kept me going. I was singing (or at least mouthing the words) through most of the run. The end result is one small blister and a whole lotta pride. I can't wait to do it again. Maybe a marathon; who knows? My time was 1:51:53! I ran it in under 2 hours (a secret goal).I want to thank the following people for donating to stop MS, a cause that is very close to my heart.Julie & Coye CheshireTim MahoneyKaren & Paul HarrisRich WhiteLauren HancockLiz BrennanLinda DemmlerEllie & Ali Ja ...

June Desktop Images
I had a fantastic birthday this year. Brunch, a trip to the flower show, a delicious dinner, a bright green rain jacket, and cameras. Lots of awesome vintage cameras. They are long past their prime functionally but they’re ideal for me. I love the dusty pieces, the heavy hinges, and the thought that they could have captured just about anything. Maybe one of them belonged to a wedding photographer. Or perhaps a wartime photojournalist. Or more likely, a mother or father who wanted pictures of the family. And I love that. History passed through these lenses and now might reside in leather bound albums or pewter picture frames. I think ...
