Philadelphia Engagement Photographer | Eastern State Penitentiary & Art Museum | Janene + Greg

Engagement

I know of at least two people who are absolutely dying to see these images. And with good reason. This extended engagement session was a blast, a riot, a fantastically incredible good time and the pictures are delicious.

Janene and Greg are rockstars. They met online (ladies take note: she winked at him) and they arranged a date. I love this part of their story and I so hope they don’t mind me telling it… They were meeting up at a restaurant and she desperately had to go to the bathroom. She texted him to scope out where it was. As soon as she showed up, he pointed her in the right direction but a little girl swooped in and got to the door first. Greg stood guard while she used the men’s room and the rest was history.

They’re totally quirky and I got so giddy when Janene told me she wanted to do her extended engagement session at Eastern State Penitentiary. And that’s where we began a few weeks ago. Check out what we got!

One of Greg’s favorite movies: Zoolander. When they were first dating, Greg asked her what she thought of the movie, she neglected to tell him that she actually walked out of the theater.

He apparently saw enough in her to keep seeing her.

Greg and Janene went on a trip to New York City last November. This was under the guise of seeing The Lion King but Greg got in “an argument” with his father that day over the actual time of the show so their plans had to change and they had to kill some time. Janene had dropped it in passing that she had visited the Egyptian Room at the Metropolitan Museum of Art when she was a little girl and had always imagined having her proposal there. Greg got Janene to suggest a visit to the Met and you can guess what went down. He had a carriage ride and dinner planned for the rest of the night and had secretly packed a bag for her. Totally sneaky.

We made a quick change and walked to the Azalea Garden behind the Philadelphia Art Museum.

Unfortunately they didn’t bring their golden retriever, Bowser, but we did get some play time in. Greg is apparently quite competitive too.

When they’re together, their laughter is just… easy.

Janene and Greg dance together. Or rather, Janene dances and Greg is her prop. Regardless, Janene has a great time and really, does anything else matter?

Janene claims she and Greg have slow danced together while sharing an ipod. Greg thinks she’s crazy and merely placing herself in an episode of the Office. It doesn’t matter – they’re adorable.

Janene and Greg were a dream. I am on pins and needles for their wedding at the Downtown Club next July.

I photographed Carol and Walter in a session that may have been my favorite of all time. Most of my couples are in their twenties or thirties and have known each other a few years. I meet them and see that they are completely smitten that they’ve found the partner who will be there for better or for worse for the next 50 years. And then I get a call from Carol who wants an anniversary session with her husband, Walter. The difference here is that they have been married for 50 years (anniversary on January 12th). What is amazing, inspiring, and wonderful is that they are still completely smitten that they have found that partner in each other. ...
