Katie and Franc met at a little place called Tattooed Mom’s. The story goes that Franc’s brother was chatting up a few ladies and Franc swept in for the tallest, Katie. They talked about growing up not far from each other in New Jersey. That was about 10.5 years ago.
You know where this is going.
We met up just a couple short weeks before their wedding (which was this past weekend at the Atrium at the Curtis Center) for an engagement session at a little place I like along Kelly Drive. The weather was gorgeous and the ambience was, um, eclectic.
About two weeks into dating, Katie realized Franc was “worth further interest” when she rode with him to pick up his friend from their airport. She started the CD that was in the player and her favorite band, a fairly obscure punk group named Lifetime, started playing. Obviously a sign.
They are now settled into their home in Graduate Hospital with their pooch, Buddy. They travel around all over, they ski, they eat out, and they attend as many concerts as possible together.
It was a year and a half ago when Katie’s family all went on a trip to Disney World. Franc had prepared a personal behind-the-scenes tour of the Animal Kingdom for just the two of them. It was there in front of the wildlife that Franc popped the question with a beautiful radiant cut diamond engagement ring. After a rollercoaster ride, they regrouped with her family to spread the news.
The two are hilarious together. It is obvious that they have spent a decade with one another. They are so in sync, so comfortably in love. I can’t wait to show off pictures from this weekend’s wedding. I’m sure you can imagine the shenanigans.
“I’m coming straight for you and it’s true. Tonight I’m on my way. She smiles. She holds her head just right, because she knows she’s the one. When I feel that coming tension I wanna run in your direction.”
