I was the fifth wheel for a sunny afternoon engagement session with Britt, Paul, George, and Frank the other week in Queen Village. Thankfully, they didn’t seem to mind my company.
They spend a lot of time enjoying their neighborhood – the walks, restaurants, and people they’ve all come to know and love. Somehow they’ll uproot just a few days after their wedding at the College of Physicians (this weekend!) and move for Britt’s internship in Michigan.
Britt and Paul met five years ago on what I consider to be the best possible place to find a partner – the internets! Britt was foolishly apprehensive of this younger gentleman but he was persistent and she came to her senses. The two are absolutely snarky and playful with each other. They are affectionate in a loving way of riffing on each other and being close.
A significant amount of their communication is in the form of grunts and noises. This may be attributable to Britt’s profession as a vet. I don’t have an excuse for Paul. He’s a computer programmer.
Their pups are hilarious. The smaller pug is 1 year old George (so named for George Costanza), a playful ball of energy. Frank (Franklin, if you’re being formal) is 6 and seems the older, wiser one who knows when it’s best to just sit there and pant. Their family is rounded out by 3 cats at home.
The two were engaged last year in the most practical of ways. It simply made sense since they knew they wanted to be together and she would be moving to Michigan. With her grandmother’s ring and a sweet ceremonial display down the street, it was done!
I can’t wait to see them again in just a few days for what is sure to be a wedding with large amounts of laughter and possibly a few subtle sappy moments sprinkled in despite themselves.
