In the midst of this frozen weather, it’s nice to think back just a few short weeks ago to Sheila and Sanjay’s engagement session on an unusually mild Philly fall day. The two met at a Hanukkah party and hit it off. On their first date at Devon, Sanjay brought her a red rose though Sheila worried he wasn’t interested since he didn’t make a move at the end of the night. Lucky for us all, he was just being gentlemanly.
We took pictures around their home in Queen Village along the waterfront.
Sanjay says that he knew by the second date that she was the one. Her compassion was obvious and attractive. Their compatibility was undeniable.
The two went to a friend’s wedding in Hawaii. Sanjay had them get up early so that they could watch the sunrise from a volcano. Sheila thought it odd that Sanjay was still in the car while she was off taking pictures. He arrived just as the sun was rising and asked her to put away the camera. She protested that she would miss the best shots but figured it out once he presented her with a ring.
The bracelet Sheila wears has an inscription of the coordinates of that volcano, a gift from an incredibly thoughtful aunt.
The two have very busy lives. Sanjay is in management consulting, flying off for work during the week. Sheila is a midwife with very, very long hours. When they are together I hear they watch a lot of Breaking Bad.
I am really looking forward to the new year when I’ll see them for their two-day Hindu/Jewish multicultural wedding at Morris House Hotel!
