Philadelphia Family Photographer | Museum of Art | Hudson & Co.

Family

Pamela contacted me to photograph a lovely combination of events.  In the span of one week, her son, Hudson, was turning 11, graduating elementary school, and receiving a visit from his grandfather from Hong Kong.  She spoke of it as, “celebrating a milestone moment in time.”

And it was.  The original plan was to go totally casual but Hudson had picked out a sharp blue and white striped blazer so they started off looking a little extra special together.

There are big things coming up for the family.  Hudson will be going to sleepaway camp for the first time this summer and, later, going to a Minecraft summer camp.  I honestly never knew there was such a thing.

Meanwhile, Pamela is going on a dreamy yoga retreat/vacation to Iceland with a good friend.

Hudson’s birthday surprise was a trip to Chicago.  Pamela told him about it the day before and the three generations set off to the Windy City and dined at the Michelin-rated Alinea.  Hudson had learned about Alinea on TV a few years ago, had researched it, and hadn’t stopped talking about it since.  What an incredible treat!

They are a jet-setting family.  With visits to grandpa in China every year, they also check out Jackson Hole, Miami, and spent two weeks in Italy last year.

Despite being a tween boy, Hudson is sweetly affectionate with his mom.

Those sparkling blue eyes probably get him out of any trouble too.

I loved spending a few hours with them around Waterworks and the Philadelphia Art Museum.  Happy travels!

Family Session on Ballena Isle, Alameda
Ack, so much to do, so little time. Isn't that always the case for the holidays? I have quite a few posts to catch up on – including an envy-inducing one from my travels in Cancun this month. But first, I want to share with you a family shoot from last week. This was such a fun family. I mean it. They were up for most anything. I offered them my list of fun San Francisco spots but they realized that there's no place that feels better for them than their own back yard – Ballena Isle in Alameda. They are self proclaimed avid sailors and live right on the marina. I showed up a bit early to take a look around and they were so right. It was ...

Keith and Mariela are the proud parents of adorable Ethan and Hailey.I got there a little early and was able to grab some pictures of Keith and Mariela alone while Hailey was still asleep. Not a surprise, but they haven't had too many pictures of the two of them for about two years now.We got the whole family outside on this perfect day.Hailey is a fabulous big sister to little Ethan.I just love these collections below. Mariela tickling Hailey was just so cute. Those are the most genuine smiles and giggles you will ever see.And Keith tossing up Ethan was priceles ...
