Philadelphia Maternity Photographer | Wissahickon Park | Carrie

Family

I have been in love with Carrie and Matt for years.  They came to me in 2011 for their engagement session and we’ve been buddies ever since.  I was thrilled to hear that they were pregnant.

You know you’ve got good people when they have a dog named ‘Pierogie von Schnitzelhund.’  I mean, come on!  Rogie is a Australian Sheepdog mixed with beagle and maybe pit and she’s sweet as can be with the best ears.

The four of us set out for a maternity shoot in Wissahickon Park along the Schuylkill River.

Carrie realized she was pregnant when the smell of Matt’s beer made her queasy.

Carrie says that she was 35 weeks pregnant at the time.  She also told me that she had only recently stopped rowing (a fall into the river didn’t stop her) and was feeling great.  The way she was moving around really made me question the veracity of this “pregnancy.”

I didn’t want to be rude and there was this belly and all but I still don’t know if I believe it.

Without knowing the sex of the baby, it is affectionately referred to as “The Wombat.”  (Womb… Wombat… get it?)

I can tell you that I photographed their little Wombat and will have those pictures for you soon with the gender reveal and their super sweet nursery!

I usually claim that pregnant women should not read books about pregnancy and birth. Their time is too precious. They should, rather, watch the moon and sing to their baby in the womb.

Philadelphia Maternity Photographer | Wissahickon Park | Christie
Christie and Colin needed some pictures with their belly and city before moving back to North Carolina.  They grabbed their 12 year old St. Bernard, Daphne, and showed me a glorious part of the Wissahickon that I had never seen before.  (I’ve tried to find it again and can’t!) Christie got the look down 100%.  The textures and colors were perfection for the turning leaves and organic surroundings.  The faux (?) fur, knee high boots, dangly necklaces, and tight army green dress looked like something put together by some fashion blogger, not a nurse!  So natural and chic! They wanted this area memorialized for pictures as a walk t ...

Philadelphia Newborn Photographer | Chestnut Hill | Hero
Dearest Hero, you were the best behaved newborn I've ever seen.  I hope you are this fabulous to your delightful parents (and brother, Bonecrusher) for the rest of your life. Hero was so wonderful - she was alert and looking around sweetly when the time called for it. And she snoozed peacefully and let me squish her up when we needed her drowsy.  We shot their newborn session at their home in Chestnut Hill. Hero was a name Preston and Jillian kept coming back to after they first saw it as a character in Much Ado About Nothing years ago.  "Hero" has its origins as a tale in Greek mythology of forbidden love and a Romeo/J ...
