Philadelphia Newborn Photographer | Chestnut Hill | Hero

Family

Dearest Hero, you were the best behaved newborn I’ve ever seen.  I hope you are this fabulous to your delightful parents (and brother, Bonecrusher) for the rest of your life.

Hero was so wonderful – she was alert and looking around sweetly when the time called for it.

And she snoozed peacefully and let me squish her up when we needed her drowsy.  We shot their newborn session at their home in Chestnut Hill.

Hero was a name Preston and Jillian kept coming back to after they first saw it as a character in Much Ado About Nothing years ago.  “Hero” has its origins as a tale in Greek mythology of forbidden love and a Romeo/Juliet tragedy.

You know you’ve got something good going on when a couple has an 8 pound dog named Bonecrusher (Bo, for short).

Jillian crocheted this baby blanket while pregnant.  It’s gorgeous!

And this blanket was Jillian’s when she was a baby.  I loved that we had Jillian’s mother with us for the session.

I am so thrilled to have met this heart-stealer.  May she grow up to be wise, funny, beautiful, creative, and independent.

You can try to say that you are a super-nerd or an uber geek or whatever but I’d have trouble believing you after meeting Jayme and David.  Their maternity session guest starred Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th.  How many of you can say that?! I don’t even know where to begin with these two.  How about Dave’s initial inquiry.  It went something like this: We're into horror movies (Exorcist is best movie ever), things blowing up (we watch Die Hard each Christmas, cuz it's a damn good Christmas movie), whiskey (not for my wife right now), listening to loud metal, and falling asleep while getting tattoos because dammit that needle is ...

Philadelphia Family Photographer | Museum of Art | Hudson & Co.
Pamela contacted me to photograph a lovely combination of events.  In the span of one week, her son, Hudson, was turning 11, graduating elementary school, and receiving a visit from his grandfather from Hong Kong.  She spoke of it as, “celebrating a milestone moment in time.” And it was.  The original plan was to go totally casual but Hudson had picked out a sharp blue and white striped blazer so they started off looking a little extra special together. There are big things coming up for the family.  Hudson will be going to sleepaway camp for the first time this summer and, later, going to a Minecraft summer camp.  I honestly ne ...
