Kate and Kevin’s wedding day was one of those run-of-the-mill days in which the bridal party surprises the couple with a flashmob dance during the reception. You know, the usual…
That should give you an indication of how Kate and Kevin’s day went down. It was filled with emotions, beautiful details, heartfelt flourishes, and an arboretum full of fun. This was no surprise to me. I’ve known Kate for a long while and their engagement session at the Art Museum was an indicator of the sweetness and spunkiness that was in store.
Kate wore two sets of wedding shoes – a pair of blue velvet flats with white lace detailing on the back and these awesome Toms with 1 Corinthians inscribed on them. Too cute!
The guys couldn’t get out of the hotel fast enough. There were oodles of them jammed into the hotel room. (10 groomsmen +several wee ones.) The Catholic ceremony was held at Our Mother of Consolation Church in Chestnut Hill.
Kate’s mom made the ring bearer’s pillow with material from her wedding dress.
A gorgeous Catholic church.
Kate is… a character.
We got to the idyllic Morris Arboretum with just a little bit of time before sunset and quickly grabbed family formals so that I could have time with the newlyweds.
See those pretty pink flowers? Also a labor of love by Kate’s mom! Kate’s great grandmother’s handkerchief was tied around the stems.
The day and colors were perfect!
The wedding party was (creatively) introduced.
Kate and Kevin danced their first dance to “Marry Me” by Train.
Then there were the speeches – warmth, laughter, tears, you know the drill… And then the music came on. Starting with Kate’s brother, Dan, and eventually adding the entire bridal party + family and relatives, a huge dancing flashmob was performing in front of Kate and Kevin.
Dan & Co. had somehow arranged this massive choreographed number. It was amazing!
The night continued with a photo slideshow of Kate and Kevin growing up, a photo wall with wedding pictures of friends and relatives, a cupcake “wedding cake”, and dancing. A LOT of dancing. There are so many wonderful images from this wedding that I could fill 4 posts worth!
This was the first time since his wedding that Kate’s father wore a suit. (And he wore it well!)
The Lindsay Docherty Photography Oh, snap! Photo Studio was in full effect that evening too!
There were so many good things about their day and I feel so lucky to have been a part of it all! Congratulations, you two!
Together can never be close enough for me
