I had the true honor of photographing Kelly and Kevin’s wedding a few weeks ago. They’re the gorgeous couple from the Valley Forge National Park engagement session. Though our daylight hours were short, the day was beautiful from beginning to end.
I met up with Kelly and the ladies at her grandmother’s house. There was an air of mystery because no one except for Kelly’s sister, Katelyn, and her mother had seen the dress. Kelly kept it a surprise that played into her bridal shower, with the bridesmaids drawing what they thought it would be. Kelly says she tried on about 30 dresses before finding “the one” and it was pretty obvious – her mom actually cried when she saw Kelly in it. Rightfully so, her lace and silk Priscilla of Boston gown was beautiful.
She had fabulous accessories too. Check out the elegant Kate Spade shoes. The “something old” was a veil that belonged to Kevin’s grandmother from her wedding in 1948. This veil had been worn numerous times through the years. The family keeps a little book with pictures of all of the brides that have worn it. Her “something blue” was a St. Christopher’s medal in honor of her late cousin. And her “something borrowed” was her mother’s pearl ring.
Before we set off for the church we had to take a picture that Kelly and her friends have taken every time they’ve gotten together since high school. The famed “butt picture”. Hilarious!
Kevin didn’t look too shabby either!
I just have to mention the flowers for the event, created by Karen of Flowers for Friends, Kevin’s cousin. They were unique and varied with succulents, orchids, lilies, hydrangea and so many more. Truly gorgeous!
The Catholic ceremony was held at St. John Neumann Church in Bryn Mawr where Kelly (and I) went to grade school. It was a lovely mass and the two were beaming the entire time.
After the service we quickly went out to the grotto beside the church to make use of the light.
We rounded everyone up and made our way over to Philly’s delightful Please Touch Museum. Kevin’s parents are supporters there and even have their own horse on the carousel. The place is just magical. We gathered the group for some informal formals on the carousel and then let the bridal party relax for cocktail hour while Kelly, Kevin, and I explored the Alice and Wonderland exhibit downstairs.
The reception was held in the main room of the museum. Naturally, I was in love with the stars that shone onto the dome ceiling. The place looked fantastic!
Kelly and Kevin were announced and shared their first dance to Van Morrison’s “Warm Love”.
It was such an incredible wedding.
They even let me pull them away for a few minutes for some nighttime shots outside of the beautiful venue.
Kelly and Kevin, what a way to start a life together! Congratulations!
Inside it’s warm love
Inside it’s warm love
And it’s everpresent everywhere
And it’s everpresent everywhere
That warm love
And it’s everpresent everywhere
And it’s everpresent everywhere
That warm love
