Denise and Mike’s wedding day went off pretty much without a hitch and we even got a few bonuses thrown in too! It was the first time I had ever shot a wedding at the Pyramid Club and I could completely understand why they chose such an incredible venue. So much of it seemed like a whirlwind wince I met them the first time not long before the wedding at their engagement session on Race Street Pier.
Denise and Mike got ready at the Sonesta Hotel right on Market Street. I really loved Denise’s details. The purple ring was her grandmother’s. Completely coincidentally, Mike bought her an almost identical ring as a Christmas gift without knowing about her grandmother’s. Rumor has it that Denise has a history of pilfering her mother’s jewelry.
I thought this embroidered shirt was so adorable!
And then there was the sweet gift Denise gave to her father before the wedding. She knows him well.
Mike was getting ready in another room. All was going on time until he realized that he had gotten completely dressed for the day but had forgotten to shave. I imagine he might have had something else on his mind. This is somewhat amusing as Mike gets on Denise’s case for being late and got her a watch as a wedding gift.
Denise looked gorgeous in her her mother’s veil and her form-flattering gown with awesome train.
After their first look we were off to Broad Street and City Hall. I just love shooting around here.
One of my favorite parts of the day was the flute player in the middle of City Hall who played wedding music while Denise and Mike took pictures.
We got back to the Mellon Bank Center to prepare for the ceremony in the Atrium.
Great gift!
This venue was absolutely stunning! It was so simple and yet still such a spectacle. The only décor added were the fabulous lanterns that lined the impressive stairs. The aisle runner was a work of love by Denise’s mother who sewed 6000 petals to it (and created all of the ribbon wands).
The reception was held on the 52nd floor. The views from the Pyramid Club were something else. All was perfectly tied in to the motif running through Denise and Mike’s stationary and cake: the Philadelphia skyline. (I just have to note that this is a pumpkin pound cake with cinnamon nutella frosting by Bredenbeck’s. Commence drooling.)
The newlyweds entered and shared their first dance to “Come Rain or Come Shine” by Ray Charles.
A friend made the wedding favors – French macaroons – as a nod to Denise’s sweet tooth.
One of the most exciting parts of the day for me was when my sweettalking got the lift operator to take us to the roof of the building for an in-your-face view of the Philadelphia skyline. It’s only fitting, right?
Meanwhile, the party was going strong a few floors below with help from the Oh, Snap! Studio. Here are a few gems from the evening.
Once this group started, there was no stopping them. The dancefloor was ridiculous.
This dance move was called “the birth”. Apparently they bring it out for special occasions like this.
As an after dinner treat, Denise and Mike paid homage to their current city with some classic Philly treats: water ice, soft pretzels, and mini cheesesteaks.
He makes her relax and she gets him to be more organized. They’re great together and the day was so wonderful. Thank you so much for including me in your celebration.
I’m gonna love you, like nobody’s loved you
