Engagement

Face it, you’re not getting any work done today anyway will all of the Cyber Monday deals going on and thoughts of football and turkey still dancing in your head. So cozy on up with Lori and Jon. I’ve been dying to share this styled love shoot with you all!

We met the other week at Brandywine Creek State Park with creative diva, Sarah, of Events by Sarah Elizabeth. The idea was simple: an extended session celebrating love, fall colors, picnicking, and a patchwork quilt. It was a resounding success!  I’ve yet to see Lori’s gorgeous auburn locks look anything but incredible and I’m so envious that she can do that all by herself.  Makeup was by Emily of Cheekadee.

As soon as we met up I whisked them away to a bridge I saw on my way into the park. The colors were unreal. We played chicken with cars (and won, thankyouverymuch) and it was so worth it!

Back in the park Lori and Jon canoodled in a patchwork quilt that could have been her grandmother’s. It was absolutely perfect.

We feared the worst when planning for this November session. We knew we could have had freezing temperatures and likely would have had to bundle up completely. (Lori did take this opportunity to get some new outfits and I’m digging the sweater and riding boots.) Luckily, we got a mild afternoon and even some vibrant leaves left around!

Sarah created the most adorable picnic ever. She had the touches that require creativity but still looks effortless: sandwiches in brown paper, pears (because apples are so last season), Coca Cola in bottles, veggies, baby’s breath, and homemade cookies (which were delicious!). The blanket/tablecloth pulled it all together.

With the last moments of golden hour, we wandered down to some buildings Sarah had scoped out.

I would apologize for taking you away from your work but I’m not sorry at all. Lori and Jon, thanks so much for spending the afternoon with us. You two were beyond fabulous! I’m so glad we finally made this happen.

If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.

cold fall wedding proposal at Art Museum in Philadelphia
Philadelphia Proposal Photographer | Philadelphia Art Museum | Kath + Brian
Brian and I had been exchanging emails and ideas for a few weeks.  The plan was to propose to his wonderful girlfriend, Kath on a day filled with delightful surprises. It was the first truly chilly day of the year.  Earlier they had gone on a helicopter ride over the city (disguised as a birthday gift to him).  They then stopped at Bishop’s Collar in Fairmount near where Kath used to live.  Brian was texting me updates so I could watch for their arrival. During the proposal, groomsmen from a wedding burst in with cheers and watching from afar.  Some tears and lots of happiness and there was a definite YES! Brian had asked me ...

Black and white arrow Philadelphia engagement session
Philadelphia engagement photographer | Rittenhouse Square | Angela + Robert
I had to begin wondering if this engagement session would ever come.  Angela and Robert were coming down from New York and we had rain plan A-F for a myriad of dates.  Finally I saw them on an overcast day in Philly for their whirlwind engagement session around Rittenhouse Square. The two have been together for 13 years, meeting while working together at the Sports Authority in Queens.  He was a “bad boy” who smoked cigarettes and had an Abercrombie jacket.  She was smitten. Robert was two hours late in picking her up for their first date.  He forgot her house number and knocked on every door up and down the street until he ga ...

New York City Engagement Photographer | Manhattan | Valentine + Erich
Valentine and Erich met at a New York City dive bar.  To be fair, they were both there for a friend’s birthday party.  They were introduced as having music in common – Valentine had a radio show in college and Erich is an accomplished musician.  They hit it off. I met with them in Washington Square Park in Manhattan for their engagement session.  They feel New York is very much them and couldn’t imagine doing their engagement session anywhere else.  They (especially Valentine) love food, do a lot of exploring around the city, trying out restaurants, theater, and wine. The park was hopping that day.  I witnessed a flashmob-dance-turn ...
