Kat and Dan married on a crisp, sunny day in December at one of my favorite venues in the area, Aldie Mansion.

The space was perfect for Kat who looked like she stepped out of a glamorous 1920s novel. Her soft blonde hair fell along her face with an antique hair clasp. Her gown (the 49th one she tried on!) was an incredible lace and beaded number that had been discontinued but she sourced and brought in. The fluttering sleeves and delicate lace along the bottom were additions and I can’t imagine the dress without them.

Leave it to Kat to accessorize with deep red, velvet pumps.

She also brought in family jewelry to complete the look – a great grandmother’s art deco engagement ring, a sapphire ring from an aunt, a silver mirror from a great great grandmother, a grandmother’s handkerchief, a six pence piece that her mother wore down the aisle and another worn by her grandmother. I would name each of these women but they are almost all Katharines.

And Dan? Totally dapper!

We took some time alone to wander the grounds of the estate.

Kat was clever enough to bring a fur and have one for each of her jewel-toned bridesmaids.

Aldie Mansion was decked out for the holidays with a massive tree, hot cider, and a fire going in the fireplace.

The ceremony began shortly after sunset. The two laughed and smiled through their story together, vows, and ring exchange.

During cocktail hour, the ballroom was transformed into tables of gold candlesticks and blooms in deep reds, blush, and mocha.

Kat and Dan shared their first dance to Something Just Like This by Coldplay.
Kat’s dance with her father was adorable but Dan’s dance with his mother really got the party going.

Matron of Honor Kara (yes, you’ve seen her with a mic before!) killed it with the bridesmaids duties all day long.

The newlyweds treated their guests to a good time with sparklers down the back lawn before heading back in for some delicious ice cream served in the couple’s wedding favor.

Thank you both so much for inviting me in to share such a beautiful day with you two. XOXO!

Where’d you wanna go?
How much you wanna risk?
I’m not looking for somebody
With some superhuman gifts
Some superhero
Some fairytale bliss
Just something I can turn to
Somebody I can kiss
I want something just like this
