I had been wanting to do an all out fair engagement session for ages! Lucky for me, I have the greatest couples in the world. When Keri, Dan, and I were thinking up ideas for what we should do and I offered up a fair, they jumped right on the idea. They love amusement parks and they’re so carefree and playful that it was absolutely perfect.
This wasn’t our first choice, though. We were originally going to try to get to the Harleysville Fair, out by Keri and a fair she knows and loves. A bout of poison ivy meant we had to postpone the session and choose a replacement. I scrounged up the Goshen County Fair in West Chester and we all blindly agreed to try it out. I can’t tell you how surprised I was. The place was positively bumping! I was honestly expecting some farm animals, a few rinky dink rides, and a couple of games. The fair was packed with people, oodles of rides, great games, food, color, lights, sounds…
Keri and Dan met loitering outside of a Wawa 9 years ago, brought together by friends of friends. They hit it off and Dan proposed two summers ago. The first attempt was at a park one romantic night. A park ranger foiled his plans and made them leave for being there after hours and Keri was too shaken up for him to try another spot in the park. They were going to a little league game the next day and were getting in the car. Dan turned to her and asked, “Can you keep a secret?”. She got nervous as Dan walked around to her side of the car. He got down on one knee and presented her with the ring!
They made a (not so!) quick change and we took on the fair at night.
I was proud of them for satisfying all three fair food groups: sno cones, cotton candy, and funnel cake.
And sharing it…
Keri and Dan, please tell me that we’ll have just as much fun at the wedding this October at the Chester Valley Golf Club. Keri, stay out of the poison ivy! I can’t wait to play more!
You’ve been waiting there for me for my whole life
I saw you, I saw you
And I know that it’s forever
And it’s hard to do
There’s something coming over me
I know it’s you
