Katie and Justin are adorable beyond words. She’s a Delaware girl who’s happiest when she’s barefoot and he’s a Tennessee boy who tries hard not to crack a smile (and completely fails at this). You should remember them from their engagement session in New Castle, Delaware last fall. Their summer wedding was simply joyful.
I met up with Katie’s family and the ladies at Katie’s family’s house in Middletown.
There were happy little flower girls flitting all around the house.
One of my absolute favorite details about the day was the fact that Katie lost her wedding shoes that morning. They were just nowhere to be found. The solution: wear the shoes her mother wore at her wedding! Seriously, how incredible is that!?
There was a definite Mad Men flair going on. The ladies wore watermelon colored cocktail length dresses, Jackie O style, with short white gloves and pearls. The guys were in grey suits.
The wedding was held at Immanuel Episcopal Church on the Green in New Castle. This church was particularly significant to Katie and Justin since Katie’s parents and grandparents had all been married there.
The reception was held at the Hockessin Memorial Hall. I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun this group was. They were singing and dancing out on the dancefloor all night (when they weren’t causing trouble in the parking lot).
Katie and Justin shared their first song as husband and wife to “I Cross My Heart” by George Strait.
And then the festivities began…
This Tennessee crew brought some of the south up with them.
Question: if something questionable goes on at a wedding, do I photograph it or step in? Well, flower girl, Ceryl, got wrapped up in the partying after snatching some champagne off the table and going bottoms up. It was too good not to document.
Meanwhile, outside this was going on to Justin’s truck…
It was such an incredible day. Katie and Justin, thank you so much for everything. You guys know how to throw it down!
Our love is unconditional
We knew it from the start
I see it in your eyes
You can feel it from my heart
From here on after
Let’s stay the way we are right now
And share all the love and laughter
That a lifetime will allow
