Family

Julia’s water broke at a friend’s barbecue.  Not very polite, Julia.  After some laboring, pushing was only 15 minutes and then there was Mara (vs. 2.5 hours with big brother, James).

I met her when she was about 1 month old, sweet as can be.  I have known Matt and Julia for years after photographing their engagement session, Julia’s boudoir, and wedding many years ago.

Matt found the name Mara and they were sold.  Julia might credit The Crown for Mara’s middle name, Elizabeth.  It’s a gorgeous name.

Little Mara makes great snortle sounds and cute baby sighs when she loses a sneeze.

Mara’s nursery was James’ old space but with some new details included a wall that Julia ombre’d when she was 7 months pregnant.

My biggest problem with Julia was the fact that she was wearing real jeans – with a zipper and everything! – just one month after birth.  Who does that?!

This tiny peanut has a rocking mom, hilarious dad, and a doting big brother.  This is one lucky kid!

It is hard to believe that it was only 8 months ago that I was contacted by Colleen and Karl about their wedding and I have since gotten to follow along on the most exciting moments: from their engagement session to their beautiful wintery Bellevue wedding to now, Colleen’s maternity session.I went back to their beautiful home in Bryn Mawr. This was 10 days before baby was due. Colleen was still working, saying that it had been an incredibly easy pregnancy – no swelling, fatigue, actual maternity clothes, or even cravings. She credits this to Belly Pilates and looks incredible! How do I get so lucky with these hot mommas?!I was so excited ...

This little bean had an army of love around her since before she was born. Colleen and Karl didn’t find out until game day that Colleen’s baby bump was a little girl. They debated for a while over names and finally decided on Collins Lillian, Collins being Colleen’s maiden name and Lillian for the feminine first name that her mother was given but never used.I eagerly met Collins about 11 days after she was born and spent a few hours with her.  I love that this is the same home in Bryn Mawr where I photographed the Colleen and Karl's engagement session and Colleen's maternity session. There were times that the session got a bit overwhelm ...

Family Session in Alamo Square
"The face of a child can say it all, especially the mouth part of the face." -Jack HandeyI met up with little 2 year old Alessandro and his parents last week for some fun pictures in Alamo Square. Alessandro was fabulous – he was playful, friendly, and even shared his homemade ice cream with me. Check out some of the pictures from our session!Alessandro and Mom shared some very tender moments reading in a big comfy chair by the window. He played with his hair and helped mom turn the pages. I absolutely love little kid features, especially when they're right next to those of a parent. He had adorable little toes and cute little fingers t ...
