I have beautiful daffodils in my kitchen and living room right now so I know spring can’t be too far away, right? If the grocery store tells me daffodils and hyacinths are right around the corner, it must be true! (Then again, these are the same people putting out poinsettias the day after Halloween.)

For now we’ve got snow, icicles, slush, and a whole lot of potholes. But if you look closely you’ll see some really beautiful examples of the winter. The white snow makes a fantastic canvas for ice-covered berries and dried wildflowers. For those of you who love the cold, relish in this time of crispness and cable-knit sweaters. For the rest of us who can’t wait for the warm weather, don’t fret – Trader Joe’s tells me it’ll be here in no time!

Every month I feature new images for download for you to use as your desktop background. Click to download it and see it at its huge size and resolution.

I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape – the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn’t show.

Trash the Dress at Baker Beach
I have been busy, busy, busy! I worked on four shoots this past weekend. I'm going to try hard to get them up ASAP. My first was Friday evening with Felicia. She is my newest Senior Ambassador from Los Gatos High School. "Fashions fade; style is eternal."–Yves Saint LaurentI cannot even begin to tell you how much fun we had. I have been dying to try a "trash the dress" shoot for a while now and Felicia eagerly offered up two gowns for the event. The whole Trash the Dress Phenomenon started with photographer John Michael Cooper, who gets together with brides after their weddings to don their bridal gowns one last time. He then photogra ...

Imaging USA in Tampa
I hope everyone had a great holiday and New Years!I'm off to Imaging USA in Tampa, FL today. I'll be hanging out with a good friend for a few days and then I'll be seeped in nothing but photography goodness from dawn til dusk for days. I can't wait and hopefully I'll have some fun shots for you when I return.Last year my resolution was to take at least one picture a day for 100 consecutive days and I think I got to around 120 and only missed 3 days. Things started to get busy and hectic in April and it fell by the wayside. I'm going to go for it again this year. It's fun to challenge myself in seeing the art in daily life and some of my ...
