Personal

I had a fantastic birthday this year. Brunch, a trip to the flower show, a delicious dinner, a bright green rain jacket, and cameras. Lots of awesome vintage cameras. They are long past their prime functionally but they’re ideal for me. I love the dusty pieces, the heavy hinges, and the thought that they could have captured just about anything. Maybe one of them belonged to a wedding photographer. Or perhaps a wartime photojournalist. Or more likely, a mother or father who wanted pictures of the family. And I love that. History passed through these lenses and now might reside in leather bound albums or pewter picture frames. I think that’s pretty incredible.

Every month I feature new images for download for you to use as your desktop background. Click to download it and see it at its huge size and resolution.

Please note these images are made available for personal use only.

Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.

Lindsay visits Scotland
If there was any doubt that wedding season has arrived, you can trust me when I tell you that it’s on! This month will be positively crazy with weddings out the wazoo. Stick around for loads of engagement session and wedding posts in the coming weeks. As for this week, I’m in Scotland for a wedding and visiting family. You’ll absolutely be seeing a blog post about it in the weeks following the trip. I don’t know if you knew this but I’m first generation American, born from a couple of Scots. When pronouncing “Docherty”, think about how you’d say “Loch” (LOK) as in Loch Ness Monster, and you’ve got it. Don’t worry, though, I’ll respond to ...

July Desktop Images
May and June were huge this year. I’ve never been so busy in my life. I’m still going through the thousands of images to get wedding images out to my incredible brides and grooms. I’m thankful for July’s heat that seems to slow down the weddings and give me time to grab a breath and get to more post processing before the fall season comes along and wallops me.Perhaps some of you are teachers and are collectively celebrating the beginning of summer. Or maybe you’re a 9 to 5er with a few weekends to spare down the shore. In any case, think of me slaving away at the computer… and grinning at all of the memories I’ve been so lucky to share ...

Lindsay Goes to Europe
I wanted to put some more stamps in my passport before wedding season showed up in full force. I guess I put the right messages out to the universe because I had a phone call Thursday morning with a friend in Europe and everything aligned. I booked a flight and I’ll be leaving tonight for Paris, Frankfurt, Lyon, and Zurich. (Or thereabouts.)I’m thrilled and panicked. I’m a total planner and this last minute madness is making my head spin. I don’t know the language, the sights, or the customs. I didn’t even have the time to check the weather over there til yesterday (freaking freezing, by the way!). My plan is to have a croissant in Par ...
