Lindsay Docherty Photography Best of 2011 Canvas Giveaway

Business

You know that sweet and syrupy holiday that’s coming up next week? The one with the flowers and hearts and naked babies with wings and candy and romance… Yeah, Valentine’s Day. It’s a day that’s been smashed over the head by Hallmark and Godiva but it’s still valuable. I like that we may have absolutely crazy lives filled with hectic jobs and unstable in-laws and teething babies and gassy dogs and home renovations and and and… but we have this arbitrary day that reminds us to make a concerted effort to stop and say, “Hey… I love you.” Maybe you do it all the time but some people need that reminder come February. You don’t need to get all extravagant but you can indulge a little, can’t you? My job puts me smack dab in the middle of love all year round and it’s pretty awesome.

I’m showing my love by holding a contest and giving away a totally free 20×30” gallery art canvas (a $569 value) to two lucky couples from 2011 and YOU get to decide who wins them. Last year’s contest was a resounding success and 2011 brought so many fantastic couples that I’ve had split this into two giveaways – one for engagement sessions and one for weddings.

I’ve posted pictures from the best of 2011’s couples on the Lindsay Docherty Photography Facebook page. Here’s how it’s gonna go down:

1. ‘Like’ LDP on Facebook.

The pictures are up on Facebook and ready for your votes. Already a fan? Awesome! Not yet? Get on it! You have to ‘Like’ Lindsay Docherty Photography in order to vote. Go here and click ‘Like’ at the top of the page.

2. ‘Like’ the image you want to win.

You can do whatever you want to get votes for your favorite image. Tell friends, tell family, tell complete strangers to vote for that picture. You can tag people. You can leave comments. You can do whatever it takes to make sure your chosen picture(s) wins. Choose one from engagements; choose one from weddings; choose multiple from each. Whatever your little heart desires.

3. Get your votes in by midnight on February 13th, 2012 EST.

This is simple. The image from each category with the most ‘likes’ will be made into an awesome 20×30” canvas print and mailed to the happy couples. An announcement will be made on Valentine’s Day.

Here are some of my favorite images from 2011 that you’ll see in the Engagements category:

[the value of] Fantastic Event Lighting
The other day I was talking to Becky over at Synergetic Sound + Lighting about my strong feelings towards additional lighting at weddings. I think it does more to a room than any other element. Scratch that, lighting is EVERYTHING. (Hello… the prefix “photo” means light.)Not only can lighting make or break the feel of your wedding, it can do the same for your wedding photography.
