Lindsay Docherty Photography Best of 2012 Winners!

Business

A very happy Valentine’s Day indeed! The LDP Best of 2012 voting has come to a close and we have our gorgeous winners!

Many, many congratulations to Jackie and Chang for their winning image in the engagement/love session category. It was a rough road and they had some fierce competition. Their engagement session was this past fall at Longwood Gardens and I am so looking forward to their wedding later this year.

Congratulations also to Colleen and Karl for their Bellevue wedding picture that was pretty much leading the pack the entire way! You’ll see more of them very soon when their full wedding blog post comes out.

These two wonderful couples will be getting a big, 20×30” fine art canvas print of their winning picture (a $569 value). I can’t wait to get some snapshots back of it hanging in their homes!

Happy Valentine’s Day and xoxo,
Lindsay

The new Lindsay Docherty Photography studio is open for business!
There are some very, very fun new things going on at Lindsay Docherty Photography. For one, the new studio in West Mt. Airy is in place! We’re talking consultation, boudoir/newborn shooting space, office, etc. I need to curate some pieces for the walls now that the basic structure is in place. I absolutely love it! I sit on the big comfy sofa and just breathe it in. It’s all mine and it’s amazing. I took a few snapshots on that foggy morning we had the other day. Technically the leaves should be raked, but I love the colors and textures and messiness of them. These beautiful, original doors were in the basement of the house for who knows ...

[the value of] Guest Sign-in Books
If there’s one thing that couples fall in love with during a consultation that they never considered before, it’s the guest sign-in book. With good reason too.I’ve seen my share of lame-o guestbooks. You know what I’m talking about: that weak keepsake with “Our Wedding” in gold cursive on the front and nothing but rows of lines inside. It’s an attendance book and you’re not likely to ever flip through it again after the wedding.Consider an alternative: a guest sign-in book that makes your guests ooh and ahh and something that you’d be tickled pink to have on your coffee table after the wedding. What a concept! Lindsay Docherty Photograph ...

[the value of] Fantastic Event Lighting
The other day I was talking to Becky over at Synergetic Sound + Lighting about my strong feelings towards additional lighting at weddings. I think it does more to a room than any other element. So she told me I should write up a post on it. So I did! Go check out Synergetic's blog to catch that post and see what they can do with lighting...Lighting is kind of a big deal for photographers. Scratch that, lighting is EVERYTHING. (Hello… the prefix “photo” means light.)Not only can lighting make or break the feel of your wedding, it can do the same for your wedding photography. It’s something that can transform and personalize a venue and ...
