March Facebook Cover Images

Personal

Yes, my March post is late but, you know what? Spring is late and by more than 5 days! Enough!!!!

I am pale and cold and so cantankerous right now! I haven’t run in ages because I can’t bring myself to get outside in the grimy slush that is everywhere. The season had better get its act together STAT!  This is my birthday month and I want picnics and daffodils, dammit!

Every month, I feature new images for download for you to use as your Facebook cover photo. This month I offer up what we should be seeing outside right now. See that first picture? It’s dirt (dərt). You probably don’t remember what it looks like. Those other things; they’re flowers (flou(-ə)rz). I know they look foreign right now but hopefully we’ll see them soon enough and have a bit of spring before zipping straight into balmy summer.

Click to download these images and see them at their full size and resolution.

Please note these images are made available for personal use only.

“The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play. So we sat in the house. All that cold, cold, wet day.”

I Heart San Francisco
Sometimes I get bummed about living in San Francisco. The parking is atrocious; I drive a stick shift and live on a hill and I can't even count how many times I've stalled out. The cable car runs right outside my window til 1am every night. And I live in an apartment the size of a shoebox (and that's being generous). But… I really do love this city. I live near the top of the hill and the view from my rooftop is amazing – I can see all around – Alcatraz, the Bay Bridge, SOMA… And how cool is it to say that the cable car goes right past my house!? And my apartment is small but it has hardwood floors, bay windows, really cool old-timey ele ...

Yo Mama…
...ain't got nothing on mine!Don’t dare tell me that your mom is the greatest; it’s a lie. My mom wins.Happy mother’s day! Love you, mom!And I must give a shout out to my own child. I, the terrible mother, left her alone yesterday on her 8th birthday to shoot a wedding. Lucky for me, Emma is incredibly forgiving and won’t mind celebrating her birthday at the park as soon as I post this!A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and ende ...

My Grandfather, the Reverend George MacPherson Docherty
I learned on Saturday of the passing of my paternal grandfather, the Rev. George M. Docherty. He was a great man who raised 5 children and witnessed the death of two, my own father being one of them.He was also the man behind the controversial addition of "Under God" in the pledge of allegiance. A simple search of "George Docherty" will yield plenty of information about how a Scotsman came to America and was the influential minister to President Eisenhower at the famous New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC.He was 97 when he died on Thanksgiving in his home in Pennsylvania. There will be a memorial service for him on December ...
