Wedding days bring with them so many emotions, issues, and added madness. You’ve seen the tv shows and how some people can’t, won’t, or just don’t cope very well. I’ve been lucky enough to avoid those bride and groomzillas. It was a hot, balmy day when Jamie and Jeffrey tied the knot. Not everything went according to plan but they were ROCKSTARS. They were two beautiful people, entranced with one another, eyes locked on eyes to hold each other (maybe dropping once) through a whirlwind day.
The setting was the gorgeous Chubb Conference Center (formerly ACE Conference Center) in Lafayette Hill. Jamie was surrounded by her lovely ladies in matching robes and shaking it to Rihanna.
Jeffrey was in another room getting gussied up. I LOVE those socks!
Jamie had tried on umpteen gown before choosing the form-fitting, strapless La Sposa that looked incredible on her petite frame.
And we mustn’t forget about the Jimmy Choos that I swear contributed to half of her height.
The two braved the outside for a first look and sunny pictures around the spectacular grounds. Trust me when I tell you that they were such troopers since the air was hot and thick even though they make it look like it was the loveliest day ever.
Back inside with the A/C, the women and men split up into different rooms for the tisch and bedeken. The men drank, toasted and sang their way to the women who chatted while sipping champagne. They came together and signed the colorful ketubah with friends and family shouting out encouragement and blessings on the couple.
The Jewish ceremony was to be held outdoors but the weight of the weather finally broke and it began to rain. Thankfully, a decision earlier in the day had moved the events into the ballroom. They stood, cried, laughed, and kissed under their magnificent clear plexiglass huppah in front of their 200 guests.
The Lafayette Ballroom was dressed in its own black tie apparel. The detailed chargers, luxe linens, high/low centerpieces, and textured gobo lighting on the dancefloor came together like a dream.
The wedding party entered and then Jamie and Jeffrey took center stage for their choreographed first dance to Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight.” They looked great out there twirling around, laughing and stopping occasionally as Jamie had to pull her long gown out from under her feet. Their grand finale was a dip into a pop of Jeffrey’s knee and both tumbled to the floor. (Of course I caught the fall though I’d rather focus on the couple vertically.)
One of the groomsmen’s father is an orthopedic surgeon and came to the rescue. (Update: a kneebrace and handicap assist at the airport for the honeymoon and an MRI upon return.)
Chalk it up to adrenalin, an open bar, or his magnificent wife, but Jeffrey soldiered on and partied it up the rest of the night with their nearest and dearest. This man is a keeper! It was such a great evening, punctuated by hilarious toasts, a stunning cake, happy hora, and a sassy dress change.
Kudos to you two for laughing through a rainy, tumbly day and coming out married and radiant!
And that laugh wrinkles your nose
It touches my foolish heart
Lovely, don’t you ever change
Keep that breathless charm
Won’t you please arrange it?
‘Cause I love you
Just the way you look tonight
