I learned a new word at Carla and Ben’s wedding: schvitz. It’s a Yiddish verb meaning ‘sweat’ and we all did a lot of it on that 100+ heat index day. As Ben’s eternally happy sister proclaimed, “it’s in to be schvitzy”. As hot as it was, the wedding was beautiful! It was held at up and coming Quarry Hill Farm in Harleysville, PA and was everything Carla had imagined: fresh, organic, local, and spectacular! As a couple who met while gardening, there couldn’t have been a more perfect place.
The couple looked great while they were prepping themselves to see each other that day.
We were able to spend a little bit of time walking around the property before the ketubah signing.
Easily one of my favorite pictures of the day:
Their dog, Sal, was there for emotional support (also present during their Philly engagement session).
They gifted their wedding party custom Chucks!
The rabbi arrived and filled out his part of the ketubah and we had a ketubah signing and a quick rehearsal before heading out for the main event.
The meadow on the property was idyllic. You turn a corner and walk up an incline and you’re surrounded by wildflowers, blue skies, and even a windmill in the distance behind the chuppah.
We got a few more family formals after their Jewish ceremony.
And though the pictures don’t show how hot it really was, trust me…
The reception was at the barn – dinner and toasts were outside and the dancing was indoors. There were fabulous strings of lights everywhere – setting the perfect glow for the evening as the sun went down.
Guests found their seat by way of herb-themed tables. “Nourishing Love,” as Carla called it. The centerpieces were a labor of love that spanned over three parties of painting plant pots. It was a great way of bonding with friends and families before the wedding. Guests were invited to take the plants home after the wedding and continue to feed and love them in their new homes.
The couple of the day arrived and spent the rest of the evening listening to fantastic toasts, watching the fireworks display, eating scrumptious food (including a gourmet ice cream buffet!), and dancing their butts off.
Love, love, love the sheer back on Carla’s wedding gown!
Their first dance was “I Only Have Eyes for You” by The Flamingos.
The Oh, snap! Photo Studio was a resounding success, especially due to the mustaches that everyone had on by the end of the night!
All in all, a beautiful day, a beautiful wedding, and a very beautiful couple.
You are here and so am I
Maybe millions of people go by
But they all disappear from view
And I only have eyes for you
