Katie and Dave’s wedding day was superb. (Pretty much) everything went swimmingly – great weather, personal ceremony touches (including a reading from the Odyssey – an homage to Katie’s classical studies background), enough time for pictures, choreographed first dance, and a sunset to die for! These are the two lovebirds from the Longwood Gardens engagement session earlier this year.
I met them at their hotel in Voorhees while the wedding party was getting ready. Of course Katie’s pup, Floyd was there to lend his support. Floyd goes on most trips with Katie. When Dave packs Floyd, he’ll take a big inhale with Floyd and tuck him away. When he pulls Floyd out, he lets out a big exhale. It’s the little things like that that make working with couples so amazing.
She’s a petite, little bride but Katie was so elegant.
How many bridesmaids does it take to tie a bow? More than Katie had. The sash looked rough until her mother came to the rescue.
The gents were working on their own swankiness a few floors above.
We arrived at First Presbyterian Church in Haddonfield for the ceremony and pictures. I am so glad that Katie and Dave opted for an (emotional) first look. It was great to watch them from afar as they took each other in and got excited.
This also gave us time to take care of the majority of the family formals while everyone was still fresh.
When you have really adorable flower girls, they’re bound to steal the show, like little Amie who dropped the petals and then turned around to start picking them up again.
I have secretly been wanting to watch a groom carry his bride back down the aisle for a while now. Thanks, Dave!
The family wasn’t quite as fresh after the ceremony as we finished up the formals.
One of the biggest draws to this wedding was David’s excitement when he told me about Haddonfield’s own Hadrosaurus and how they just had to get pictures with it.
We headed over to the Trump National Golf Club Philadelphia in Pine Hill, New Jersey. We had bright blue skies and just enough wind to make a veil fun.
Guests enjoyed snacks and drinks while taking in the expansive views during cocktail hour.
As always, the ballroom looked fantastic!
The wedding party plus Dave and Katie were announced to the guests. The newlyweds stepped onto the dancefloor to impress us with a choreographed dance to “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney.
The reception was a blast. One of the most memorable parts was best man, Stu’s, speech. He read through Dave’s emails to him throughout the courtship with Katie. There were lines of nervousness, excitement, anxiety, and the basic thread that he was totally smitten and falling for her (her greatness evidenced by the framed Rush poster gift). Stu’s delivery made it one of the best speeches I have ever heard.
There was cake, a slideshow of Katie, Dave, their parents, and Katie+Dave, and dancing.
Plenty of dancing.
Sunsets like this apparently happen here on a nightly basis. If that’s not an incredible selling factor, I don’t know what is. I am so glad the two agreed to come outside with me for the last few minutes of light.
What a day!
“Maybe I’m amazed at the way
You help me sing my song
You right me when I’m wrong
Maybe I’m amazed at the way
I really need you”
