Wedding
Riley and Gardener planned their wedding with one goal: have fun. (Okay, fine, two goals: have fun and get married.) I would say they hit it out of the park.
The to-be-weds got ready with their closest people at their respective parents’ houses in Chestnut Hill. It was only right that the wedding play out this way since they met when they were 6 years old and started dating at the Junior prom while at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy so many years ago.
Riley carried her late grandfather’s handkerchief with her on the wedding day. He just missed the wedding by a few months. She also wore her great-grandmother’s beautiful sapphire bracelet and was given sparkling sapphire earrings for the day (to match her sapphire and diamond engagement ring).
The ladies sipped mimosas in their monogrammed shirts while primping in Riley’s mother’s walk-in closet.
I love that Riley wore comfy gold flats!
The soft, loose braid was just perfect on her.
Gardner is one of four boys. Three of the four were married in 2014.
Riley and Gardner aren’t center of attention kind of people. They wanted the ceremony to be quick and painless. It was held at The Church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields in Chestnut Hill, walking distance from the homes. They had a bagpiper at the entrance to bring people in.
The wedding party departed in Gardner’s uncle’s vintage Woodie, fighting through Germantown Ave. traffic to catch some of the last daylight at Sunnybrook Golf Club in Plymouth Meeting.
We just caught enough light outside for Riley and Gardner to wander around the grounds on the golf course before the reception.
The place looked fantastic! They had constructed a clear-roofed tent out back for the party. The string lights and rows of long white tables speckled with navy linens and white flowers looked incredible!
Riley and Gardner shared their first dance to “This Must Be the Place” by The Lumineers.
Warm and fuzzy speeches and a delicious meal came next before the heart of the day: the dancing.
Riley and Gardner knew that it would be a dancing crowd. They supplied a setup of local beers and great dance music and had the scene set just right for the party they wanted (this is a couple who had a funfetti wedding cake!).
It was a beautiful day topped off with a brilliant fireworks display at the end of the evening. Truly spectacular!
Home, is where I want to be
But I guess I’m already there
I come home she lifted up her wings
I guess that this must be the place
I can’t tell one from the other
Did I find you, or you find me?
There was a time
Before we were born
If someone asks, this is where I’ll be… where I’ll be
