Anu and Joe have known each other for a long time. His father is the pastor at her family’s church in Dallas. It was no big deal when they realized that they were both going to be in Atlanta last November when they met up for dinner. Something magical happened at that meeting though and they both felt it.
Their relationship has been something extraordinary so far. Since they live in different cities and Joe works for Delta they have been able to spend their time together seeing the world.
Anu had lived in Philly for a few months for work and wanted to share it with Joe. This is a weekend that they remember with much fondness since they both realized it was love while on this trip. They contacted me to tell me about their plan to come back to Philly and revisit that adventure and I was totally on board. Thus we began their extended engagement session hopping around the places they had visited that time.
First up was Reading Terminal Market with mandatory stops at Metropolitan Bakery and Bassett’s Ice Cream.
From there we strolled through City Hall on our way to Love Park.
A funny thing happened as we were taking pictures along Broad Street… the Bare as you Dare Naked Philly Bike Ride. Hundreds of people in various levels of undress came whizzing by while we were there taking in the city’s greatest, um, sights. This was not what they saw on their first trip to the City of Brotherly Love.
Our time there was captured and posted on LOLadelphia!
Anu and Joe took it in stride (and, okay, a few fits of giggles). Then we wandered over to Rittenhouse Square.
They had made lists of places that they would love to visit. One weekend Joe told her to pack their bags and they went off to Montreal. It was there that he proposed.
The Magic Gardens in South Philly was one place that they had wanted to check out. This area is known for its incredible tile (and everything else) mosaics on neighborhood walls.
On our way back to base we swept by Love Park again. This time to take advantage of the public fountain!
I feel so lucky to have been a part of this crazy Philly date part 2. They’ll be married in Texas next year. My fingers are crossed that I’ll see them again – with or without the cyclists!
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
