Eric and Elise are getting married today surrounded by a group of 50 of their nearest and dearest somewhere in Philadelphia. I’m not telling you where because I don’t want you to crash their party (it’s one of my absolute favorite venues in the city).

Let’s go back two years ago when they first met. Elise had just moved to the city from Chicago and went out with friends and friends of friends. Eric was there too and they hit it off.

They kept the spark going through easy conversation at breakfast dates.

She lived in Fairmount, he in Northern Liberties. They had spent many a lovely evening perusing the area around Logan Square so it seemed right that they start there for their engagement session.

They had talked about marriage and he had visited her family (the first time involving a harrowing 25 hour train ride in a snow storm) and asked her father for his permission. She knew the proposal had to be coming eventually because Dad returned and immediately said, “so you and Eric are talking about marriage, huh?” /facepalm/

That day did arrive one year and one day after they first met. It was supposed to be a weekend hiking in Rickett’s Glen but the forecast was rain. Eric switched things up with a trip to Cape May. There were lovely meals, walks, and a visit to the top of a lighthouse leading up to the final moment on a bench together when he popped the question with his late grandmother’s diamond ring.

Now they’re two peas in a pod laughing about their wacky trio of cats and attentively watching Criminal Minds.

I can’t wait to celebrate with these two in just a few hours!!!
