Family

Pamela contacted me to photograph a lovely combination of events.  In the span of one week, her son, Hudson, was turning 11, graduating elementary school, and receiving a visit from his grandfather from Hong Kong.  She spoke of it as, “celebrating a milestone moment in time.”

And it was.  The original plan was to go totally casual but Hudson had picked out a sharp blue and white striped blazer so they started off looking a little extra special together.

There are big things coming up for the family.  Hudson will be going to sleepaway camp for the first time this summer and, later, going to a Minecraft summer camp.  I honestly never knew there was such a thing.

Meanwhile, Pamela is going on a dreamy yoga retreat/vacation to Iceland with a good friend.

Hudson’s birthday surprise was a trip to Chicago.  Pamela told him about it the day before and the three generations set off to the Windy City and dined at the Michelin-rated Alinea.  Hudson had learned about Alinea on TV a few years ago, had researched it, and hadn’t stopped talking about it since.  What an incredible treat!

They are a jet-setting family.  With visits to grandpa in China every year, they also check out Jackson Hole, Miami, and spent two weeks in Italy last year.

Despite being a tween boy, Hudson is sweetly affectionate with his mom.

Those sparkling blue eyes probably get him out of any trouble too.

I loved spending a few hours with them around Waterworks and the Philadelphia Art Museum.  Happy travels!

Julia’s water broke at a friend’s barbecue.  Not very polite, Julia.  After some laboring, pushing was only 15 minutes and then there was Mara (vs. 2.5 hours with big brother, James). I met her when she was about 1 month old, sweet as can be.  I have known Matt and Julia for years after photographing their engagement session, Julia’s boudoir, and wedding many years ago. Matt found the name Mara and they were sold.  Julia might credit The Crown for Mara’s middle name, Elizabeth.  It’s a gorgeous name. Little Mara makes great snortle sounds and cute baby sighs when she loses a sneeze. Mara’s nursery was James’ old s ...

Philadelphia Pet Photographer | FDR Park | Lisa + Chris + Bella
It was a few weeks ago when I met up with Lisa, Chris, and, most importantly, Bella, for some pictures at FDR Park in South Philadelphia. It was a beautiful afternoon. The light was luscious and the weather was just right!Bella is a 1.5 year old beagle who loves her stuffed raccoon, rolling around in anything, sniffing anything, but will (amazingly, I think) come when called even when off leash. She’s a petite little thing for a beagle but has gorgeous big, brown eyes and the sweetest little face.We played and ran around with her parents, Lisa and Chris, who have known each other since 9th grade but lost touch only to reconnected about 2 y ...
