Philadelphia Proposal Photographer | Philadelphia Art Museum | Gabby + Ethan
Engagement
For some reason, I was super anxious leading up to Ethan’s plan to propose to Gabby behind the Art Museum. It was likely because start time was pushed back a little bit so I had more time to get all of the butterflies. They arrived as expected behind the Art Museum and came walking towards our location.
Ethan and I had planned this for a few weeks. Ethan thought Kelly Drive would be perfect since Gabby loves to run and imagined she’d be spending a lot of time along the gorgeous path of their new city. Too many wet and frozen days delayed the cherry blossoms we were hoping to see along the Schuylkill River so we switched plans to one of my favorite places in the city – a fabulous overlook with views of Boathouse Row, Philly, the Waterworks, and the river. Ethan walked the exact path earlier that day while Gabby was away at an interview.
Though Gabby had her suspicions (she had a gel manicure in place), it went off without a hitch!
She knew he had the ring. The plan was that he would propose once he knew where he was going for grad school and he accepted at Penn earlier this year. They came on a quick trip to Philly from Arkansas to find a place to live and to get Gabby some interviews.
The two met at a casino while in college. I’d love to leave the rest to your imaginations but it’s a sweet story. They had gone on the outing with a group of mutual friends. They hit it off. Gabby fell asleep on his shoulder on the ride back home after the trip.
They knew from the first meeting that there was a connection. She invited him to a dance soon after.
They both studied abroad at the same time – him in England, her in Spain – so that they could still see each other and travel Europe together.
Coincidentally, they grew up very close to one another at rival high schools and even attended the same summer camp.
They’re clearly big into being active. They have a regal Visla named Winston and spend a lot of time tiring him out. I’m psyched for them to learn all about the Wissahickon and try out all of the craft ciders and fabulous food Philly can offer them!
I loved spending time with them immediately after the proposal. That energy doesn’t happen any other time. Gabby started skipping she was so happy!
It was a beautiful evening with incredible light and these two were phenomenal! Fingers crossed I hear more about their wedding planned for next year in Arkansas!
