Philadelphia Wedding Photographer | Hyatt at the Bellevue | Carly + Billy

Wedding

Carly and Billy were married at the Hyatt at the Bellevue in Philadelphia on a 90-something degree day.  Thankfully, most everything was indoors that day though I kind of feel like it wouldn’t have mattered much to them either way.  Both Carly and Billy emanated joy.  All day long Carly was telling Billy how handsome he looked.  And he was.

In a bracelet she borrowed from her mother, sparkly Kate Spade pumps, a lace-edged cathedral length veil, and an incredible tulle gown with a fabulous illusion neckline and loose, blonde curls framing her face, Carly herself was stunning.

The two met for a first look at the top floor of the Bellevue in the sun-drenched restaurant, XIX, before stepping outside for a few shots on Philly’s classic Broad Street.

The wedding party looked glamorous.  The ladies wore strapless, pale pink silk chiffon gowns and the gents were in black tuxes.

The ceremony was held in the Bellevue’s Rose Garden Room.  A member of the processional required a little coaxing to get down the aisle.

Despite it being their big day, Carly and Billy didn’t want a lot of attention on them.  The ceremony was short and sweet and featured one of the most beautiful chuppahs I’ve ever seen.  Abundant clusters of roses, lilies, hydrangea, and greenery  surrounded them in a fairy-tale scene.

After cocktail hour in the conservatory, guests moved into the glamorous Grande Ballroom.  There is good reason for the place to be called the “Grande” Ballroom, made all the more luxurious by the impressive centerpieces, gold chiavari chairs, and gold linens.

The happy couple entered and shared their first dance to “Thinking Out Loud.”

The rest of the night was a blur.  The hora was a blast and guests crowded the dancefloor all night long.

It was a beautiful day for a spectacular couple.  Congratulations, Carly and Billy!

 That, baby, now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Place your head on my beating heart
Thinking out loud
Maybe we found love right where we are

Philadelphia Wedding Photographer | FDR Park | Christina + Eli
Not ones to be tied down by (any) tradition or superstition, Christina and Eli had the wedding so many only dare to dream about – 100% their way.  It was a refreshing and beautiful take on such an important and personal day with sweet, sentimental flourishes and nods to different cultures and religions as these two joined together.  I feel lucky to know them as friends and to have been invited in as one of the lucky ones, along with Gary or Gary Nevitt Photography (his take on the wedding on his blog), to play such a special role in their day. We, all of us, started at the Hotel Monaco that morning.  If you’re marrying the love of your lif ...

Philadelphia Wedding Photographer | Morris Arboretum | Kate + Kevin
Kate and Kevin’s wedding day was one of those run-of-the-mill days in which the bridal party surprises the couple with a flashmob dance during the reception. You know, the usual…That should give you an indication of how Kate and Kevin’s day went down. It was filled with emotions, beautiful details, heartfelt flourishes, and an arboretum full of fun. This was no surprise to me. I’ve known Kate for a long while and their engagement session at the Art Museum was an indicator of the sweetness and spunkiness that was in store.Kate wore two sets of wedding shoes – a pair of blue velvet flats with white lace detailing on the back and these aweso ...
