Kelly and Chris married almost 4 years to the day they met. She was in Philly for the summer and the two hit it off. They strongly considered eloping but decided on something a little larger and more personal instead.
The day was wet and dreary but I swear you’d never know it from these two. I met with Kelly at the Hotel Palomar in Philadelphia to photograph her (and her hilarious friends and sisters) before meeting up with Chris in the lobby. Her look was so perfectly classic with her vibrant blue eyes, bright red lips, porcelain skin, and a fun A-line strapless dress with pockets.
We ubered it over to the Philadelphia Wedding Chapel as I grilled them on their relationship.
They are totally practical people. It was while they were vacationing in the Caribbean when they decided to make things legit. So they got an engagement ring there and started planning. You must take a close look at this engagement ring again (on right). Tell me it’s not incredible and completely unique.
The ceremony was both light-hearted and drew a few tears. You could tell that the people in the room were the very most important ones to Kelly and Chris. The happiness was palpable.
We left the chapel to some rain and made our way over to the next stop: Broad Street. We must have gotten there right when the sky opened up and drenched us. They were such great sports about the entire thing. Cars honked and onlookers took pictures of the crazy trio in the median.
The dinner reception was held at Modo Mio. It made perfect sense to them: they live right down the street and it is their regular spot for a delicious dinner. They shared their first dance to “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles. Totally appropriate given the day.
The rest of the evening was filled with dancing with their parents, plenty of emotional speeches, hand selected beverages, and course after course after course of amazing Italian food.
It was such a beautiful (damp) day and I’m so honored that I was invited in to be a part of it. Congrats, Kelly and Chris!
Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it’s been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it’s all right
