Personal

The summer? Bah! That was nothing compared to what’s coming this fall. Hold on to your hats because there is a world of Lindsay Docherty Photography coming at you over the next few months. My mind is spinning and it’s hardly begun yet. This is my last totally wedding/engagement session – free weekend til December (yes, December!) so I’m taking a wee trip. I’ll be incommunicado til Wednesday because I’ll be paddling down the Delaware River for the next few days. “My, Lindsay, I had no idea you kayaked,” you say. Well, that’s because I haven’t. It will certainly be an adventure and will likely hurt. But I’m one tough cookie. I am under strict orders not to drown or be eaten by bears so that is set too.

Because I’ll be away, I wanted to leave you with some of my favorite blogs. You’ll certainly need something to do to pass the time without Lindsay Docherty Photography [blog] updates and, let’s face it, Facebook is starting to get a bit dull. I won’t even go all wedding-y on you with these – you’ll be getting plenty of that when I return. In no particular order…

Meet the new COO of LDP, Asher
He is small and sweet and social and so, so happy and I’m truly enamored in a way that I’ve never been before and didn’t quite expect.  I had Asher 6 months ago today after 9 months of heavy prepartum depression and a tiring labor.  Two weeks early, 17 hours of contractions, and an emergency c-section later (goodbye, birth plan!), I had a wiggly, tiny, bird-like baby weighing in at 6lbs 2oz. For a while we called him Mr. Magoo because he was so wrinkly and weak. And he rocked a sweet mullet! Eventually he filled out with plump cheeks, a melon for a noggin, and a dusting of hair.  Possibly because I kept expectations qui ...

Loss
I don't like being negative, especially here. I don't get angry very often or very easily but there are a few things that are very near and dear to me that, if threatened, will trigger my fury. My pictures are one of them.I am staying with family in Maryland while looking for a new place to live in Pennsylvania. I was in Pennsylvania yesterday when the movers delivered my things.I came back tonight to discover that many boxes have been smashed and badly water damaged. One such box was labeled "Fragile! Frames!". In it were lots of my most prized pictures. The soggy box practically crumbled in my hands. The cardboard just peeled off. ...
