I love Lisa and Jeff.
There, I said it.
A few weeks ago I went down to Washington DC to photograph their extended engagement session around Dupont Circle where they live and Union Station where they spent quite a bit of time with hellos and goodbyes.
But let me back to up to the beginning. Jeff’s roommate went to law school with Lisa. 3 months after meeting, Lisa moved to New York for a job and they worked out a long distance relationship for the next year and a half (hence the significance of Union Station) before she came back to DC and Jeff.
We were all watching the weather on the day of the session. Philly was beautiful. DC, on the other hand, was about 10 degrees colder and threatening rain. Not to be deterred, we made the most out of it and just played it up. Rain in the forecast? Break out a cute umbrella and rain boots! And off we went to Rock Creek Park.
By the way, this closeness isn’t due to a fondness for Jeff, it’s because Lisa hates the cold and felt like a popsicle out there. And I guess it helps that they’re in love.
Totally adorable!
I’m pretty sure we crashed a wedding too. No one was using the grounds anyway.
Lisa’s wallet had been stolen sometime around early March. She was carrying around a novelty wallet without a coin purse. Her birthday was early April. A few days before her birthday, Lisa came home, changed into sweats, and Jeff came home to meet her and give her her birthday present. It was a new wallet. He asked her to check out the coin purse and make sure it was what she wanted. Inside was this fantastic ring! Truth be told, Jeff is a terrible liar. Lisa knew something was up months before when Jeff had to take a trip to Philly “for work”. She knew he was going there to ask her parents for her hand in marriage.
A quick change later and the addition of a sweet vintage suitcase and we were off to Union Station. Jeff works at the Capitol so we wanted to pay some credit to that DC icon as well.
I absolutely love the architecture inside.
Lisa and Jeff, that’s for showing me around your hood! So looking forward to the wedding next October at Philly’s Ritz Carlton!
