Philadelphia Wedding Photographer | All Saints Catholic Church | Stacy & Joe

Wedding

Not many couples get the chance to get married twice. Two venues, two dresses, two parties, two cities, and two completely different weddings (don’t worry, same partners). Stacy and Joe are just that lucky. To tell you the truth, I feel the luckiest of all because I got to see them for their engagement session around the Art Museum, another session with Stacy, and both of their weddings.

The first was on July 4th in Philadelphia (pretty perfect, no?). Joe’s entire family lives within a few blocks of each other. And this is a big family. Joe is one of 10 and then you’ve got all of the spouses, nieces, nephews… It was so important that the wedding be based among all of this love and take place at the family’s church (right down the street, of course).

Stacy got ready at Joe’s sister’s house. Stacy had some beautiful details including blue Badgley Mischka shoes, a borrowed pearl bracelet from her mom, a veil borrowed from her godmother, another bracelet from Joe’s great aunt, and gorgeous diamond earrings that Joe gave her as a wedding gift.

Stacy, as always, looked incredible. The ultimate happy, nervous, gorgeous bride.

Joe was getting ready a block or so away at his parents’ house, all decked out for the wedding and Independence Day.

We gathered at All Saints Catholic Church.

Guests were invited to don red, white, and blue for the occasion. Stacy’s bouquet was a fantastic combination accented by a brooch from Joe’s grandmother, a horseshoe necklace, symbolic of Stacy’s grandfather, “Poppy”, and a swath of fabric from her grandmother’s wedding dress. I loved how intimately everyone was represented.

Do you remember how sweltering it was this past Fourth of July? It was about 95 degrees with a heat index over 100. According to Stacy, the day was to be 77 and sunny. Not so much. So it was slightly warm inside the ornate but un-air-conditioned church where Stacy and Joe said their nuptials for the first time that week.

We grabbed a few family shots at the altar and I took Stacy and Joe for a quick walk for some pictures of them before I bid them adieu until the second wedding a few days later in Connecticut.

Si and Tanard’s wedding was not your normal wedding. Their wedding spread over two days and had one primary focus: fun! Given what I saw when I met them for their engagement session, this was no surprise to me.A small group of guests were invited out to the family’s farm, Seven Oaks, for a “dress rehearsal” that Friday night.  They were told that formal pictures would be taken then so they should dress up.What they did not tell them was that Friday wasn’t a dress rehearsal at all – it was the actual ceremony. The elated and emotional couple chose to do a first look that day for some uninterrupted time that would allow them to mingle w ...

winter wedding day in Rittenhouse Square with snow
Philadelphia Wedding Photographer | Ritz Carlton | Laurie + Andrew
Laurie and Andrew were married on one of those days that make you say, “go home, weather, you’re drunk!”  The previous day was a lovely 60 degrees.  People were wearing shorts.  Then the ice age hit and we were dealt school closings across the city, snow, and 20+ MPH winds.  It was cold and blustery but it was a story and they looked good.  Really good. Laurie had originally contacted me for their Philadelphia City Hall wedding.  As these things sometimes do, the wedding grew.  And grew.  And grew.  She got back to me to let me know that the plan had changed from a 5 minute ceremony at City Hall on a Thursday to a full ceremony at the ...
