Nesting Urges

Personal

I don’t know what has gotten into me lately but I have this inexplicable lust for more space, a new bed, big windows, fresh flowers in every room, white washed kitchens, wood furniture with chipped paint, gauzy curtains, and lots of sunshine. My trip to Ikea yesterday probably didn’t help matters. And I love Pottery Barn but I really wish they wouldn’t cram so much stuff into their pictures.

I’ll order all of the following, please:

My kitchens (that’s right, I’ll have several)

Bedrooms
(Note the canopy bed. I saw this pic in the book The Comforts of Home by Atlanta Bartlett and I’ve been obsessed with this bedroom ever since! The bed, white washed floors, big mirror casually resting on the floor, old lockers, bench, sunlight… drool. )

(And why not?!)

That’s not too much to ask, right? So what do you think of my crib?

June Facebook Cover Images
It’s June!I apologize for being a day late but that’s because I was photographing a beautiful wedding yesterday. The couple was awesome but the weather left something to be desired. A very, very hot day in an unairconditioned church and outdoor formals meant a melting bridal party. They were absolute troopers and I feel sooo lucky for them. Some people (*cough* Andy *cough*) would not have been nearly as pleasant in that sun and heat. This leads me to my June Facebook cover images. The first is how I feel just about everyone felt these last few days. As a side note: huge ice cubes are awesome. As for my second image, I know some people ha ...

Wedding dress shopping in NYC
Liz, my best friend, came into town last week from Chicago and we had a fun-filled trip of being truly girly. We bought makeup, she gave me an introduction on how to actually use it, and we went to New York City to really indulge in being a bride: dress shopping. I had the day planned with a whirlwind trip to three bridal salons, dinner, and a show on Broadway (btw, Matilda was awesome!). We started at Lovely, a place that lives up to its name. The walls were decked out in Elizabeth Messina prints, big chalkboards, beautiful windows, and softness. It was intimate, comfortable, and well, lovely. Jacqueline walked me through aisles of tull ...

March Facebook Cover Images
Yes, my March post is late but, you know what? Spring is late and by more than 5 days! Enough!!!!I am pale and cold and so cantankerous right now! I haven’t run in ages because I can’t bring myself to get outside in the grimy slush that is everywhere. The season had better get its act together STAT!  This is my birthday month and I want picnics and daffodils, dammit!Every month, I feature new images for download for you to use as your Facebook cover photo. This month I offer up what we should be seeing outside right now. See that first picture? It’s dirt (dərt). You probably don’t remember what it looks like. Those other things; ...
