I have beautiful daffodils in my kitchen and living room right now so I know spring can’t be too far away, right? If the grocery store tells me daffodils and hyacinths are right around the corner, it must be true! (Then again, these are the same people putting out poinsettias the day after Halloween.)

For now we’ve got snow, icicles, slush, and a whole lot of potholes. But if you look closely you’ll see some really beautiful examples of the winter. The white snow makes a fantastic canvas for ice-covered berries and dried wildflowers. For those of you who love the cold, relish in this time of crispness and cable-knit sweaters. For the rest of us who can’t wait for the warm weather, don’t fret – Trader Joe’s tells me it’ll be here in no time!

Every month I feature new images for download for you to use as your desktop background. Click to download it and see it at its huge size and resolution.

I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape – the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn’t show.

The Magic of Photoshop
Everyone knows that models in advertisements and magazines have gone through hours of makeup, preparation, and photoshop to look as good as they do. But do you have any idea exactly how much change there really is? Dove (the soap brand) has come out with their Campaign for Real Beauty and feature a remarkable short film that shows the transformation from normal woman to billboard beauty with the aid of hairdressers, makeup artists, and photoshop whizzes. It's a smart and somewhat sad commentary on our distorted perception of beauty. What you see in magazines simply isn't real yet that is what we keep striving for. That's why we buy all o ...

Summer no more. Sure, we may have a few hot days but the leaves are turning from their vibrant greens to blazing reds, oranges, and yellows. It's definitely fall in the Northeast and everyone knows it. This is my busiest month of the year. With colors like these and temperate weather, the conditions are perfect for weddings.Go on some evening strolls while you still can. This is the time of year to put all of your senses in overdrive: take in the incredible colors, breathe in that crisp autumn air, stock up on spiced cider, carve pumpkins, hoot and holler at the postseason baseball games, roast marshmallows, jump in a pile of leaves, bra ...

Featured Photographer on LetsGetTrashed.com!
Woohoo! Lindsay Docherty Photography has been featured on one of the hottest new websites for seniors, Let's get Trashed ! No no, this isn't about parties while the parents are away. What started with adventurous and fun brides getting down and dirty in their dresses at TrashtheDress.com , has now become a senior sensation with high school senior men and women going out and having fun in their prom formalwear and letting lucky photographers (like me) come along for the ride. It can mean totally trashing it – like cutting it up, rolling around in mud, and splashing in the ocean or just taking it somewhere unexpected and not-so-clean lik ...
