Lindsay visits Scotland

Personal

If there was any doubt that wedding season has arrived, you can trust me when I tell you that it’s on! This month will be positively crazy with weddings out the wazoo. Stick around for loads of engagement session and wedding posts in the coming weeks.

As for this week, I’m in Scotland for a wedding and visiting family. You’ll absolutely be seeing a blog post about it in the weeks following the trip.

I don’t know if you knew this but I’m first generation American, born from a couple of Scots. When pronouncing “Docherty”, think about how you’d say “Loch” (LOK) as in Loch Ness Monster, and you’ve got it. Don’t worry, though, I’ll respond to just about anything close and a variety of short nicknames too.

If you need to get in touch with me while I’m away, it will be best to email me (hi@lindsaydocherty.com). I don’t know how often I’ll be able to check my inbox but I’ll do my best. I’ll be arriving next week and will certainly respond to any messages and inquiries then.

Off I go!

Meet the new COO of LDP, Asher
He is small and sweet and social and so, so happy and I’m truly enamored in a way that I’ve never been before and didn’t quite expect.  I had Asher 6 months ago today after 9 months of heavy prepartum depression and a tiring labor.  Two weeks early, 17 hours of contractions, and an emergency c-section later (goodbye, birth plan!), I had a wiggly, tiny, bird-like baby weighing in at 6lbs 2oz. For a while we called him Mr. Magoo because he was so wrinkly and weak. And he rocked a sweet mullet! Eventually he filled out with plump cheeks, a melon for a noggin, and a dusting of hair.  Possibly because I kept expectations qui ...

Philadelphia Gay Pride Parade and Festival 2014
Yesterday marked the first Gay Pride Parade and Festival in Philadelphia since gay marriage became legal in Pennsylvania just last month.  The parade, which started in the Gayborhood and wound its way down to Penn’s Landing, drew the largest crowds yet.  There were rainbows everywhere.  The Village People headlined the show at Penn’s Landing, several couples married at Independence Hall, and there were community-based LGBTQ booths (hi HRC friends!) as far as the eye could see down by the river. Here are just a few pictures I snapped while celebrating yesterday. As much fun as it was to see the revelry, I look f ...

I have a task for you: go to a playground and swing. I mean it. Leave the kids at home. I want you on that swing. Bask in a summer evening and just play. Hold on tight, move your legs, throw your head back, close your eyes, and go. There is something incredibly freeing about being on a swing. Trust me on this one.Every month I feature new images for download for you to use as your desktop background. Click to download it and see it at its huge size and resolution. Please note these images are made available for personal use only.“It Don't Mean a Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing”~ Duke Ellington
