Maryland Wedding Photographer | Private Home | Lauren + Chris

Wedding

I had been looking forward to seeing Lauren and Chris again since their engagement session in Rittenhouse Square last year. There was something about them, individually and together, that I felt so drawn to. Maybe it was Lauren’s snort laughs or Chris’ knowledge and presentation of all things dapper.

They were married on a beautiful day in Pasadena, Maryland in the backyard of her family’s lakeside house.

The lovely dress she chose was the fourth dress she tried on.

Lauren walked arm in arm (in arm) with her parents from the home to the awaiting happy Chris. She arrived and he said, “I’m glad you showed up.”

After landing on my rear in front of everyone as they exited from the ceremony (really smooth, Lindsay), I got lots of time with them and the bridal party. With such a scene, we didn’t have to go far.

We gathered for the introductions into the tented reception.

There were some wonderfully moving toasts about how they make each other better people. They spend a lot of time apart due to Chris’ career but they make it work and it’s beautiful.

Lauren’s dance with her father concluded with a clogging show thanks to 4 years of lessons in high school.

Lauren and Chris danced together a lot that evening, first to “All You Ever Wanted” by the Black Keys.

The evening was a riot! Neighbors surprised the couple with luminaries for the pool, there were about a dozen different kinds of pies from their favorite bakery, a friend surprised them with their very own wedding cake, and the fancy drinks kept flowing thanks to the bartender that they brought in from their favorite bar, Woodberry’s. Laughter, dancing, singing, and shenanigans all around!

I have to note that Chris’ parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary just the month before.

These two are so wonderful. They deserved this amazing day (complete with jaw-dropping sunset) and a lifetime of days just as spectacular.

Hanging on your telephone wire
Flap my wings, oh yeah
And set your heart to fly

Philadelphia Wedding Photographer | Morris House Hotel | Ellie + Josh
I think I would have to start another blog to review all of the personal touches Ellie and Josh included on their wedding day.  There were pieces going back many generations.  Everything came together beautifully for a bright, happy, emotional day. The engraving on the inside of their bands reads, “Ani L'Dodi” and "v'Dodi Li," which is the Hebrew transliteration for “I am my beloved’s” and “my beloved is mine.”  Josh’s band is made from a meteoroid.  Because obviously. Bringing me back to one of my favorite venues in the area, I started with Ellie and her ladies in the bridal suite at the Morris House Hotel.  They giggled, gabbed, a ...

Philadelphia Wedding Photographer | Bartram’s Garden | Sam + Matt
Sam and Matt aren’t the kind of couple who want all of the pomp and circumstance of a fancy schmancy wedding.  It’s just not them.  They’re fun and playful and wanted a day that felt true to them.  From my point of view, they hit it out of the park.  And their friends?  Oh, man.  Read on. The ladies were getting ready at the Marriott in Old City while Matt and his buddies were prepping at a fabulous AirBnB nearby.  Sam’s wedding dress was a multi-layered, v-neck confection that was boho and gorgeous.  It was the very first dress she tried on. The guys hopped on the trolley ...

Haesook + Wayne: Inter-cultural Wedding in Gwynedd
You may remember this adorable couple from their sweet, wintery engagement session at Longwood Gardens. Haesook and Wayne were married in March in one of the most interesting ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed. We met up at the Church of the Messiah in Gwynedd. Due to some small mishap, we weren’t able to get into the church til about an hour before the ceremony began. Bridesmaids were getting ready in cars. Haesook and Wayne were cool as cucumbers. The ladies got ready downstairs. Haesook wore a sleek Vera Wang silk and organza gown that looked lovely on her petite frame. And I adored the bridesmaids’ outfits! They were outfitted in grey te ...
