I had been looking forward to seeing Lauren and Chris again since their engagement session in Rittenhouse Square last year. There was something about them, individually and together, that I felt so drawn to. Maybe it was Lauren’s snort laughs or Chris’ knowledge and presentation of all things dapper.
They were married on a beautiful day in Pasadena, Maryland in the backyard of her family’s lakeside house.
The lovely dress she chose was the fourth dress she tried on.
Lauren walked arm in arm (in arm) with her parents from the home to the awaiting happy Chris. She arrived and he said, “I’m glad you showed up.”
After landing on my rear in front of everyone as they exited from the ceremony (really smooth, Lindsay), I got lots of time with them and the bridal party. With such a scene, we didn’t have to go far.
We gathered for the introductions into the tented reception.
There were some wonderfully moving toasts about how they make each other better people. They spend a lot of time apart due to Chris’ career but they make it work and it’s beautiful.
Lauren’s dance with her father concluded with a clogging show thanks to 4 years of lessons in high school.
Lauren and Chris danced together a lot that evening, first to “All You Ever Wanted” by the Black Keys.
The evening was a riot! Neighbors surprised the couple with luminaries for the pool, there were about a dozen different kinds of pies from their favorite bakery, a friend surprised them with their very own wedding cake, and the fancy drinks kept flowing thanks to the bartender that they brought in from their favorite bar, Woodberry’s. Laughter, dancing, singing, and shenanigans all around!
I have to note that Chris’ parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary just the month before.
These two are so wonderful. They deserved this amazing day (complete with jaw-dropping sunset) and a lifetime of days just as spectacular.
I be your black bird darlin’
Hanging on your telephone wire
Flap my wings, oh yeah
And set your heart to fly
