Wedding Photography at Pen Ryn Mansion in Bensalem, PA: Lisa + Mike

Wedding

I admit that I was a little worried about Lisa and Michael’s big day. They say rain is good luck but I don’t know many couples who would choose “good luck” over having the outdoor ceremony they imagined. Luckily, the rain was only a threat. We waited a few minutes and it all passed and the day was just fantastic. You might remember Lisa and Mike from their engagement session around Rittenhouse Square last fall.

Take a look at how their day unfolded. The stage was set in Bensalem, PA at Pen Ryn Mansion. The pearls belong to maid of honor, Jessica, as Lisa’s something borrowed.

Lisa looked in.cred.i.ble! Her slender build was just made to be in a wedding gown. And I can’t even tell you how much I adored the flower in her hair. She just had this elegant grace about her that I can’t even describe.

One of my favorite moments of the day was the first look (or “reveal”) before the wedding when Mike first laid eyes on his lovely bride. His expression was pricesless!

We took some time to wander around the grounds for pictures of just the two of them before the rush of the ceremony and wedding day really began.

Guests mingled on the front patio as we waited for the final word on the ceremony location.

Their ceremony blended a little bit of his Catholic faith with her Jewish faith.

We got a few formals before heading in for the cocktail hour and reception.

Lisa and Mike danced their first dance to Jefferson Starship’s “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now”.

And then Mike and his daughter, Haley, adorably crashed the father daughter dance.

I loved the Mr. and Mrs. signs that Lisa had for the backs of the chairs.

The reception was a ton of fun. Schaffer Sound took care of the party that night.

This was a hugely fun (and attractive!) group they brought out that evening. It’s not a party unless I’m out there on the dancefloor shimmying along to the beats.

And if you’ve followed this blog at all, you know I can’t pass up the food shots.

We were given a glorious treat by wedding guest, Sorin, shaking his thang to Billie Jean. Someone seriously needs to hire this guy for parties. He was a smash hit. With moves like this, it’s no wonder!

Lisa and Mike, what a fantastic wedding. All the best to you both this year and forever!

Lookin’ in your eyes I see a paradise
This world that I found is too good to be true
Standin’ here beside you, want so much to give you
This love in my heart that I’m feelin’ for you

Philadelphia Wedding Photographer | Davios Steakhouse | Jessica + Gaston
Jessica and Gaston were married in Argentina last year.  They live there and came to the States for a wedding reception to celebrate with more of her friends and family who couldn’t make it down for the event.  We met on a gorgeous day in Rittenhouse Square.  Jessica wore a breezy cream and white crochet gown that had a very boho feel, accented by her flats. Her long hair was pulled into a beautiful curly updo with some tea roses. Gaston cleaned up nicely, looking so smooth and dapper.  Thankfully, I was able to get some smiles out of him and his brothers. There was no official wedding party, only close friends and fami ...

bride and groom in Christmas lights at winter wedding at Holly Hedge Estate
New Hope Wedding Photographer | Holly Hedge Estate | Ali + Mike
December in Pennsylvania is a great but difficult time for a wedding.  It’s cold, the daylight hours are few, the freezing temps hinder a lot of super cute bridal/bridesmaid dress options, and did I mention that it’s really cold?  (Maybe that was Mike talking.)  On the other hand, winter weddings have a crisp, festive feel with twinkling lights, evergreens, and beautiful nighttime moments snuggling close.  Perhaps you decide to have a winter wedding because your coffee shop is opening soon after and there’s no time for a break when you’re running your own business!  That’s how things worked for Ali and Mike and I feel very lucky that I was th ...

Anna + Bill: Wedding in Calistoga at the private Black Swan Lake
Oh. My. God. You should have seen Anna and Bill's wedding - it was absolutely stunning! I went up to Northern CA with Lisa of Lisa Leigh Photography to be the second shooter at one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever seen. This is the stuff for magazines. As I've said before, I try to take advantage of as many shooting opportunities as possible and I'm glad I went along with Lisa for this one.First of all, all eight (yes, eight) bridesmaids were beautiful. They wore flowy Vera Wang dresses in a light celadon (minty-green) with a bubble hem tied at the waist with a black velvet sash. The bride wore a strapless off-white gown with ...
