Philadelphia Wedding Photographer | Valley Green Inn | Allison + Craig

Wedding

Allison and Craig’s wedding day started the fall season off with gorgeous colors and they couldn’t have done it in a more perfect place for nature than Valley Green Inn, a tucked away place in Wissahickon Park surrounded by trees, paths, a creek and lots of nature.  It still blows my mind that I’m in Philadelphia when I’m there.

But let’s back up to earlier in the day.  Allison got ready at their place in Old City.  Sadly, puppy Zelda was not there to join us.

Allison wore earrings that had belonged to her great grandmother and a necklace made from the diamond of her grandmother’s engagement ring.  (Allison’s grandparents 74th wedding anniversary was that day.)

Craig was at the hotel near the church.

It was the first time I had shot at St. Philip Neri Church in Lafayette Hill.  It’s a beautiful place that seemed to be aflame with incredible colors at just that time that afternoon.  The stained glass windows were beautiful and created a rainbow over the guests during the lovely Catholic ceremony.

We fought through some traffic and made it to Wissahickon Creek Park just as the sun had fallen behind the tops of the trees.  We still had some time to grab some fall colors walking along the creek and outside of their wedding venue.

The reception was done up to reflect the season.  Vases of orangey and red flowers were at each table along with Allison and Craig’s labor of love, homemade candles at every place setting.

The couple was introduced and joined in their first dance to “Swept Away” by the Avett Brothers followed by punny toasts and parent dances.

Despite getting more healthy since meeting Craig (a fellow vegetarian!), Allison’s sweet tooth was represented at the Candy buffet table with orange, red, and yellow jelly beans, m&ms, truffles, kisses, rock candy, and candy corn were displayed.  And their cake was a total showstopper.

The evening had guests, young and old, rocking the dancefloor and mingling through the night.

To jazz things up, they changed into some custom chucks.

We snuck out for a few minutes to grab some fresh air and a few quick pictures in the night.

It is hard to believe that those amazing colors were just a few weeks ago when I look out my window today.  It was beautiful and I’m so honored to have been a part of it!

Well you send my life a whirling
Darling when you’re twirling
On the floor
Who cares about tomorrow?
What more is tomorrow?
Than another day.

Stephanie & Adam: a winery wedding in Gilroy, CA
Other photographers out there will know what I mean when I talk about client crushes. Photographing a wedding is a very intimate process and you're practically stuck on the couple all day long so it's incredibly important that they like you and you them. Some couples, however, just go above and beyond and are incredibly kind, inclusive, and accommodating to even the lowly vendors. Stephanie and Adam are one such couple. They exude warmth and are so relaxed and fun. You may remember them from our engagement session not long ago. They had a beautifully fallsy wedding last month in Gilroy, CA at Fortino Winery.Take a look at that sweet invit ...
